Could be, that looks like a Heli-Pad to me. A massive one at that. I wonder if the beast was on the ship and broke out? Tankers like that can be as large as 900 feet.

That's what I'm thinking. I think Red Walrus posed that theory early on in this muddled thread. There was the mention on Tagruato's website of them getting upgraded double-hulled tankers. Could this tanker have been retrofitted to not be a tanker, but a cage? As you point out, if you were to set a tanker on end, it would be as tall or taller than most skyscrapers, so you could theoretically fit something the size of Mr. Grumpypants in its hold. Was Tagruato transporting it from Chuai station, where it was "found" or "made" (paraphrasing Teddy's words), stopping off in New York on its way to where ever, when Mr. Grumpypants unexpectedly woke up and wanted out? He busts out, damaging the tanker in the process, then wades over to get medieval on the SOL, before heading downtown to plow through some buildings like they were just so much tall grass? Who knows, but it's fun to speculate.

Tagruato Logo on Tanker?

DougBThree wrote:
I played around with levels and contrast on a screenshot to try to see if that's really a Tagruato logo on the oil tanker in the newscast. In the photo, the area in white that I drew a green square around is what I'm referring to. See the dark round shape in the middle of the white square area? I think that might be the Tagruato logo.

Nice find, it could be a helipad with the logo on it, hard to tell.

There is a bit more footage of the monster, I think you see the whole of the leg swing past. I will try to make a gif out of it if I can. edit: can't get good enough quality.

i dont think the tanker is holding Grumpy, or Tagruato.
It is a device to imply(confirm) water is the means of travel for our beast.
remember the tanker from Godzilla with the big claw marks? Grumpy took a swipe at the tanker, the proceeded to chuck it into the city.

As far as the SOL head goes, something tells me that grumpy is not so smart. Have you ever seen a dumb animal just kind of carry something around for a while like and dick with it until finally it loses interest and hauls it away? Thats what i think happened.

I love you all deeply. My girlfriend doesnt get it.

Helipads don't usually have dark centers. They usually have a full white field with a big H in the middle. Rarer is that they are 'branded' - like a Tagruato tanker with a Tagruato logo on it's helipad?

Just out of my own curiosity, is it even physically possible for a tanker to capsize on its own?

Hmm, I was thinking the head was thrown straight from the statue, but now I've realised that the head landing and the monster sighting is all in a single take, so your version sounds more like it.

That's quite an amazing effects sequence actually, if everything from the head being thrown to the glass smashing is done in a single take, it's really well realised.

in the calm waters surrounding Manhattan? not likely!
it was Big Grump. Also i should note that i think he attacked
Lady Liberty thinking she was protecting the City. And im the first one who ever thought that.

EDIT: this refers to the question of the possibility of a capsize on its own

It looks like some variation on the Japanese flag anyway, on the top side of the tanker.

It isn't, when the lights go out in the store there's a split. You can tell because as someone else pointed out, before the lights go off a guy runs to the right and knocks a rack off the counter, when the lights come back on the rack i s back on the counter, ready to fall off again.

I'm sure I see a woman's head near where the rack could be, at first I thought she might be picking the rack back up and putting it back, then I realised that that's a blatantly stupid thing to do. Hey, maybe it's Jamie doing it then?! Very Happy

http://www.originalabsinthe.com/absinthe-c-21.html

Here is a link for a absinthe supplier that might does ship to US as most do, some still dont. But looka t the thujone content of the Absinthe King Gold ~100mg which is extremely high and expensive but well worth it.

edit - first line of paragraph on page "discreet shipping to US"

Just a few things I noticed:
The tagline "Something found us" vs the Tagruato voicemail of "and a representative will find you" which stuck out as strange. A subtle clue that the Tagruato corp. is somehow responsible for the monster? And the Slusho! websites: "We are coming" as well perhaps..

As for the SoL head, it seems to me like the smoke is coming from the gouges and holes in the metal, if it was just friction heat from bouncing along the road, the head would come from the points sticking out on the head, not the holes. The Explosion when it hits might be a bit of artistic lisence, I think.

Rob and the other guy in the appartment seems to know more than they let out after the newscast. "That is close"?? Its a local news station, and broadway and the harbour is not THAT close are they? And the whole "maybe we can see it from the roof?" Unless they are in an extremely tall building it would be pointless to look for a sinking tanker in the harbour... at night as well, with the lights from the city destroyng your night vision.

Also on the roof top, Rob seems to be scanning the horizon in just the right direction before Hud interupts him with the "guess you should have moved earlier" quip. The rest of the crowd seem to be milling about, but Rob looks like he's trying to see something he know is there... I used to think the slusho 6(7) wasn't a part of the plotline in that sense, but Im reconsidering that...

Even though the temperature is no longer on the newscast, it seems very temperate for mid january... everyone has thin clothes (also the bystanders in the street).

Finally, yes, it looks to be the Tagruato-logo on the helipad of the sinking tanker. Haaving a logo on a helipad is not that uncommon, I know many of the oilinstalations in the North Sea use the operators logo as centerpoint on the helipads. As for the ship being a "cage", if anything the size of the monster had broken out of the tanker, it wouldn't just list heavily to one side, it would probably sink pretty quick... But maybe it was carrying not oil but DSI, and the monster followed the smell?

again i want to weigh in and say the tanker was collateral damage. wrong place wrong time. Tagruato wouldnt bring their biggest secret to NYC, the mecca of exposure in a tanker, banking on it being dead. i also dont think he followed anything. He was pissed, groggy and when he arrived in the shallows around manhattan he started swinging at anything that wasnt mud and rock.

Dun Dun Dun....

Thanks for DougBThree for orignally pointing this out.

edit: this doesn't rule out collateral damage of course, as Tagruato are an oil company in this universe, but it's interesting.
