No way its a primate, way too much like King Kong, what a rip off that would be. Seems to me that the tanker likely has nothing to do with anything and is filled with oil. If it is a tagruato tanker they would have seen the monster on sonar, they wouldn't have lured it into a city. This specualtion doesn't make sense to me. Sorry. It's a tanker in a busy harbor, probably filled with oil, like hundreds of other tankers that roam the ocean everyday.

The tanker carried the mummified corpse of Adolf Hilter and was on it's way to the museum of Natural History. Upon hearing this on the local News Herchel the 500 ft aquatic scorpion, fire breathing, parasite carrying, full of slusho blood whale who had recently converted to judaism was frickin pissed. He blew the tanker up with his right armed left handed gun which he had recently purchased off of Lee Harvey Oswald's ghost. Seeing the city Herchel went into action to preserve the peace and fight for truth, justice and the American way!

Tanker from the Chuai station, full of oil. "Grumpypants" gets awoken by the said tanker. Follows it until it "tires" (grumps would most likely think the tanker was another living creature). When the tanker slows down, grumpy takes advantage and attacks. Explosions occur; in confusion grumpypants attacks the statue of liberty, thinking it's another living organism.

I'm gonna have to side with those that believe that there was Seabed's Nectar in the Tanker.

Why: The Chuai Station didn't create this thing. It hasn't lived in the Atlantic Ocean all its life, but has moved around. There has been subtle hints that the "Bloop" was caused by this thing. The Slusho! history dates back to an incident of a disappearance that happened by Japan.

That's just an outlandish statement... Now you're just leading us down rabbit trails. Wink

I don't think that Grumps was in the tanker, because if the harbor is 24 feet deep, the boat must be less than that into the water, not leaving enough room for the monster to fit in, even if the boat does stretch out of the water quite a bit, i think the monster is in fact smarter than we think because in the new clip we see it throw the statue of liberty's head, then duck behind a building, the monster then leaves an amount of time for the people to contemplate what has happened, then annhilates a skyscraper, i really don't think he could have been in the tanker, it just wouldnt fit.

I don't think the monster's smarter than we think- I think it was just really creative writing. The writers wanted us to be in suspense and awe, so they left us that window of opportunity to soak it all in. Perhaps we could assume that the monster is just causing destruction for other people in the city... Remember the people we saw isn't all of Staten Island's population, but just a portion.

Just to clarify, the wikipedia article indicated that the average depth was about 24 feet. However, there is a channel through which the ships navigate that has been dredged out to about 45 feet.

That still isn't enough depth for the mega-tanker I was referring to, though.I believe I read that it draws about 70 feet of water. I'm not sure how that compares to a more typical tanker.

But exactly how tall is the hindquarters of GP we see between the buildings? Certainly taller that 24 feet or even 45. I don't think it was lying down inside the tanker. Maybe they drilled into him and he dragged (drug?)the tanker to the harbor. With sonar/radar, military could see the size descrepency for the register tanker and incoming mass, and that would explain the heavy military presence within hours of the initial explosion.

On the extremephiles thread theres a great theory that the drilling equipment is/are mutated waterbears! and that it or one gets free and gets very pi*%ed off and follows the tanker into the harbour so I think its probably DSN on board!

If the channel is only 45 feet deep, how did our monster get into the harbour unseen, tanker or no tanker?
Maybe he burrowed out through the ground in the harbour, causing the earthquake.

And primate related... I don't think it's a laugh.

I'll pimp my animation here if anyone hasn't seen it, confirmation(?)that it's a Tagruato tanker.

What we do see of the monster does look too big to be carried inside a boat, I like the theory that it has followed the tanker.

I'll pimp my screenshot as well. It's slightly easier to see. Definitely giving credit to Slusho Addict for spotting this first.

It could have, but that doesn't mean it's not a Tagruato tanker, nor that the creature didn't follow it into the harbor. People are trying to speculate the occurance of events, since there looks to be the Tagruato emblem on deck, and I don't see a reason for them to point this out in the movie unless it had relevance. Earthquakes don't capsize tankers (unless there is a tsunami caused by it, but the city would sort of notice that..).

I guess I would not so readily dismiss the expanded and escaped theory. Because if the mystery girl (doomed Marlena perhaps) was in fact mutating as hinted at in the Slusho! history page, if they found a deep-sea creature that was just weird which they are bringing back with them, it's possible it does escape, and finds the hold with the nectar, and drinks up. If it were to do that, I could see it growing very fast and to epic proportions.

Regardless, I still think that the tanker is involved in some way, it's not just a destruction scene.

Finally, don't you think that a capsized OIL tanker would be huge, massize news? Spilling millions of gallons of crude into the harbor might sort of make the story.. Razz
