Marlena is drinking a Slusho in the teaser
[SPEC]

You can see the straw.

She is already feeling sick in the new 5min clip.

The monster must trigger something when it arrives.

you'd figure that she wouldn't be the only one drinking it though.

You gotta figure that everyone reacts differently to things such as drugs, food, etc. Marlena could have an unknown allergy to DSI and is reacting in a manner similar to someone who has a serious nut allergy for instance. Not everyone has allergies and therefore not everyone at the party, even if they were all drinking Slusho, would be affected like Marlena.

true enough, but if this is treated like a virus- such as a cold- the reaction would be the same- just to different degrees.

[spec] on my part because I don't think that Marlena gets infected by the slusho. In the scene [trailer] where they're walking, then a strange sound is heard and they start running- I wanna say that whatever was chasing them carries the infection that makes Marlena sick. People point out that she's 'pale' but the actress is a pale skin toned woman anyways, so her skin complexion doesn't have any reflection upon her health.

Everyone's immune system handles viruses differently. If we were all the same, then any number of diseases through out the history of the world would have wiped us out as a species. I think there is a natural and realistic reason for why one person out of the 6 is sick. The way the scene is shot we just don't know if other people at the party got sick or not. Given the hazmat suits that we've seen, I'm going to speculate that more people are in fact getting sick all over the city.

true enough, but in that perspective- we don't even know if Marlena is even sick, we just know that she's not okay.

Hawk and Marlena are the only two we *know* that are drinking Slusho before the movie comes out....not sure which came first, chicken/egg thing...and it's highly possible that Jamie might have took a few hits of Slusho goodness, too.

I suspect that all 3 of 'em -- Hawk, Jamie, Lena -- are going to need some serious Zantac for all their Slusho consumption by the movie's end.

I don't understand how a straw guarentees it's a Slusho? Plenty of drinks can be comsumed with a straw and there hasn't been anything all that conclusive that Slusho's available in the US in the film aside from the following:

1) Jason's T-shirt, however given that the Slusho clothing/merch is established in Jamie's videoes it doesn't rule out the chance he got it before the promotion drive in America began, meaning that it may not have reached US shores yet.

2) A Slusho advert is believed to have been seen in the Bodega, however I didn't see said advert and another member believed it was something that looked like it may have been a Slusho advert like a set of towels.

3) A comment on one of the MySpaces, about someone drinking a Slusho. A member expressed that this mention may actually be contradictory to the main story, given the absense of any other references to Slusho being in the US in the film universe.

Its a large white straw. The same as you get at fast food restaurants and at convenience stores/gas stations.
I don't recall going to parties and getting a cocktail or drink with a large white straw.

Id just say its a safe assumption

What?!

Everything I drink with a straw is slusho.

I had some chocolate Slusho with breakfast this morning.
I sipped on a Mountain Slusho at lunch
and I had a frozen alcoholic Slusho-rita for dinner

I also brewed a pot of Italian Roast Slusho at work.
I love a Slusho-shake from McSlushos

If A=B and A=C, then...

(And yes, I do drink coffe..er..slusho with a straw - I don't care if it says "Not for Hot Beverages" or not Razz )

I dont know if that was slusho in her cup with the straw HOWEVER i think it is very likely that the people who made the film want to tell us something with this scene right after the ROAR.

when Marlena walks past Hud (behind the camera), he says something like "are u alright?" and she just looks at him while she walks off; not replying a single word.

she seems very worried and maybe even sick. i know this is almost as tiny as the "its a lion" thing, but it reminded me of "the cough moment". thats the part in a film where someone coughs and you know its there for a reason - yep he/she's got something and he/she will die within the next 10mins.

@Roztox

let us know if u put on some weight.
