[Info] Promotional trailer at Carmike Cinemas Small Advertisement I just got back from watching I Am Legend in Tyler, TX at a Carmike Cinema. During the advertisements... not the trailers... an advertisement for Cloverfield came up basically stating to see Cloverfield in Carmike Cinemas. There was some footage that I have not seen before in the trailers, or heard it discussed. There wasn't anything really groundbreaking but this is the jist of it.
Rob is talking to the military about going back to get someone, presumably beth, and that he's going back and that they'll have to shoot him to stop him. I take it that this means they got evacuated to wherever it is in the trailer and rob and crew decide to go back after whoever it was he was talking about.
The footage of the soldier that was blurred in that trailer was not blurred in the clip either. Not sure what relevance that has.
They were also talking about the creature in better terms other than just it's alive.
I would like to see the clip again, cause my memory is horrible.
I've been following the board since Transformers but this is my first post.

Re: [Info] Promotional trailer at Carmike Cinemas Small Advertisement Interesting, thanks.
They do seem to have returned after an evacuation in some parts of the trailer, so I've been thinking it went something like that.

Yea, the scene with the horse-drawn carriage looks like the city has been evacuated. I love the building that is completely leaning against another in that scene. I think in the preview there might have also been something about Rob saying "we have to go back" (or maybe someone replying "we can't go back out there", I forget) and yea I speculate they go back for Beth (<3).

I just saw I am Legend earlier today at Carmike, and saw the commercial/teaser thingy too.
Three things stuck out in it to me:
1.) Rob is talking on his cellphone to Marlena (I think that's who we've determined winds up getting sick), she sounds panicy and says "I'm bleeding, I can't move". Rob is still in his sportcoat, so I'm guessing this is towards the beginning of the film.
2.) They don't threaten to shoot Rob if he goes back in, rather, he says something to the effect of "If you want to stop me from going back in there, you'll have to shoot me". I don't know if that was the exact wording, but it's the jist of it.
3.) The tagline at the end of the teaser/commercial/whatever is "Who would you save?"

hmm that is very interesting.. Are you sure Rob was speaking to Marlena on the cell phone? I always figured that he was speaking to to Beth and he and the rest of the crew go back into the city to save her..
Remember this pic:

I don't remember if it was ever heavily speculated who exactly is shown in this pic, but I assume it is Beth..
It looks like she got hit by something (flying debris when Grumpy Pants ventured down her street and f**ked up her building?)
That would of course explain why she calls Rob cryng : "I'm bleeding, I can't move"
Awww cute tagline at the end.. Rob saves the day.. yay..

Its strange that Paramount let Carmike Cinemas have that as an advertisement.

I'm not certain exactly who it was on the phone with Rob.... for some reason my mind just jumped to marlena. Nevertheless, whoever is on the phone with Rob is bleeding and can't move.
As for the length, there was about 30 seconds worth of advertising and saying "See cloverfield on 1-18-08" type stuff, and then there was about a minute's worth a footage, most of which I haven't seen yet.
Another thing that sticks out in my mind now that I think about it, Rob makes several references to "going back" over the course of the clip. Add that to my list above.

Hold Up there- Cloverfield has a tagline now?
This means mainstream promotion like TV spots are right around the corner...

I saw this already. What I meant was constant TV spots, like other film commercials. One apperance doesn't really count- channels that don;t have cable can't see the spot. Those Nissan commercials are examples of this. Either Cloverfield's gonna stay viral, or half viral and half mainstream, OR, less viral and all mainstream.

I saw this commercial/trailer in Columbus, Ga (Carmike's home office is here) before Juno. I thought it was way odd to see it before this movie, but I think they're running it before most of the movies now. The only thing that really stuck out to me was the soldier's face not being blurred, as mentioned. I'd never seen them market a movie like this, so it kinda made me hope there'd be something special going on with it and these cinemas as apposed to others...that also may be a pipe dream.
They showed the Lost trailer right after it, too. It was cool to see Lost footage on a screen that big.
