hmm, i dont get this. there was also shot a scene in central park under the bridge, so who knows, maybe the cam was found there?
how do you know hud is in the copter? in my opinion HUD dies very quickly in the first five minutes of cloverfield right? he falls down while running down the stairways, then rob takes the cam.

Okay, maybe it wasn't Hud, but whoever was holding the camera was also in the copter....if the trailer is correct.

the other thing that i find interesting that i just realized tonight is that there are 2 helicopters. And that odds are that beth was not in the first one. the first one takes off and the camera stays on the ground, you see a woman in the window. than later on apparently hud(or whomever is holding the camera) is in a chopper with rob when it spins out and looks like it is going to crash, and than rob sits under the bridge in central park and records his "you know more about it than i do" speach, and we know from some of the production pics that we have gotten that beth is sitting right next to him while he is filming that. so my thoughts are that lil is in the first chopper(but there is no way of telling who, if anyone, else in in it with her, maybe lena if she isn't the s'ploding chick, maybe hawk if he isn't dead, no way of knowing) i think that they get away safely and mgp is kinda pissed that he didn't get it for a snack, so when the other chopper(carrying rob, beth and maybe hud if he hasn't eaten it, or been eaten by it.) takes off mgp takes a swipe at it causing it to spin out of control and crash land, beth and rob make it out alive run to the nearest shelter, a bridge in central park and camp there. I personally think that hud lives all the way up until the chopper crash and that is where he dies.

Based on some observations, I think it's pretty safe to say that Hud's presence in the helicopter is perfectly reasonable, and that Rob is shooting himself in the Central Park scene with Beth. We have a really short shot of what is very likely Rob and Beth in front of the cameraman (Hud) running to the helicopter (frame 1563-1568). Of course later we see the helicopter with Rob and Beth going down. It seems rather likely then that Hud is at that point dead or incapacitated.
To clear up the situation with Hud falling down in the subway scene but getting back up - we see Rob with his suit jacket still on in that scene and it's related still shot. When we see Hud in the helicopter and the Central Park scene, he's only wearing a t-shirt. Between the subway and the two later scenes, we have shots of Rob in his striped dress shirt but no jacket.
Folks, when you watch the footage and look at the still, pay attention to Rob's clothing and Lily's hair. They put it pretty much in order.
About the helicopter taking off - that's Lily in that one, and the camera on the ground very likely in Rob's hands. The shot with Rob and Beth in the helicopter doesn't show Lily, nor does the Central Park scene. See how it's all fitting together here?

I think Hud is in the chopper, Rob is not holding the camera (you see both his hands fly past on one frame) It could be someone else holding it, but I think the most likely explanation is he dies when the helicopter crashes.

Also bear in mind there might be 2 helicopter flights in the movie, one where they see the statue, and one at dawn, although it's possible the statue might be filmed from a news report.
