I've written about it already, but with "Warm towel" I think about Oshibori
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oshibori
Perhaps we need to look not only for anagrams, but also for symbolic...

Oshibori as hands cleaning tool... Metaphoric? Pilatus' hand washing could be a little wrong...

herschel island

Ok, forgive me if any of this has been mentioned, but I'm pretty sure it hasn't, or I couldn't find anything about it.

I really think there is something here and it would make me angry if the answer is handed to us this weekend without solving this puzzle, wheres the fun in that? So bare with this theory:

Taking the first letter from each sentence or after each comma (everytime a new thought is written) in the first two paragraphs before the list of survival kit items, we get M Y C O T I S.

Quote:
Many of you have written in and complained that when you get into a demonstration situation and it goes array, you often find yourself alone in a jail cell for hours or trapped outdoors with inadequate food, clothing, or hygiene options.

To address this need, I've created a "Survival Kit" of essential items to take with you to any gathering, should you be captured or forced to flee society for several days.

Now, kind of a stretch, this is a sentence. "My cot is.." and you add an A to the equation because of the misspelled 'awry/array' clue, and you can spell 'My coat is...', and what is the first word in the list that follows punctuation? Warm. "My coat is warm."

So I Googled this phrase and came up with a story about an Inuit from Herschel Island. Now what does this have to do with anything so far? Well Herschel Island is the northernmost point of the Yukon in Canada (in 1945 Kanturo Tagruato found a mining company in Kyushu, which is the southern most point of Japan- so theres a connection there no? beginning and end, south and north?)

Also, it seems a lot of issues here deal with global warming (the temperature in new york? randy's 'green' mobile?). Further searching mentions that Herschel Island will be greatly affected by global warming.

Also, the Chuai station is the closest station to Herschel Island.

I then tried many searches with Herschel Island and the items in the survival kit, which didnt really connect all of them, but I could always find some site that mentioned at least one of them in connection wit Herschel Island.

So what does this tell me? Well I'm not exactly sure, but it seems convincing that Herschel Island could very likely be connected to the happenings at Chuai, Tagruato, TIDO, etc.

This led me to think about Herschel Island as a clue to a name. Could Herschel be someone? Maybe Randy Herschel?

Well, there is only ONE Randy Herschel on myspace (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=167300883 - Randy's myspace). He looks like he could be a scientist/activist. The profile is private, but we know this RH is 48 and lives in Alberta, CANADA (another connection!).

So thats as far as I have gotten with this but it seems like some of it may be useful? I dont know. Hard to be so much coincedence. Sorry if it didnt make any sense, its very late and I'm tired. Any thoughts? Hope I'm not forgetting anything.

Sounds kinda stretchy, but I'm glad to see someone is still working on that list! I definitely think there is a clue in there somewhere.

well you've put some time into this, but I think your Herschell thing it wrong.

The 'My Coat Is' phrase looks like it's from a section explaining some variation of Eskimo language, Looks like it's explaining lots of different ways of saying things are cold, which you'd expect in Eskimo lands Smile

Can't read the whole thing but I think the phrase might be Awona artegi eAlbpa picuktu pt/cuk.

There may be a hidden message in the update somewhere, it certainly feels like there should, but I don't think that's it.

I think, although that was a very well followed trail, he is unrelated. If he was, he would probably have an open profile for everyone to see and be friends with someone in the movie, most likely Teddy.

Long time lurker. 1st time poster.

What if we're approching this from the wrong direction. The 1st thing I thought of was this a hidden web page at the Tidowave site. Like an unlinked page.

www.tidowave.com/swissarmyknife/swissarmyknife/swissarmyknife/swissarmyknife/swissarmyknife/swissarmyknife

6, 6 times, eh? Clever? Not really. It didn't work.

when that didn't work I replaced "swissarmyknife" with "sak"

http://tidowave.com/sak/sak/sak/sak/sak/sak

No luck there either. I tried

http://tidowave.com/swissarmyknifeswissarmyknifeswissarmyknifeswissarmyknifeswissarmyknifeswissarmyknife

As well as

http://tidowave.com/saksaksaksaksaksak

I'm sure it's got to be something like this but perhaps somone here smarter than me can figure it out.

okay, probably stupid, and we will get new stuff from TIDO/TAG/JAMIE/SLUSHO soon, but i thought maybe someone wants to puzzle a little bit more, and i am just too tired now and have to learn for an exam. so what i wanted to say: "maybe the two other words for the initiatives DRAIN and PEAK hold some clues for all of you who still think this is a puzzle"

EDIT: good night!

Considering the fact that all of the hints that have been given to us up to now were more or less obvious and just providing some background information on the movie and ment to keep us interested in the movie:

No complicated code hidden in the "Survival Kit" items, the marketing people just want to hint that the "event" is some Greenpeace-like action of the tidowave guys trying to attack or sabotage the Chuai station (an thereby accidently start the whole monster-thing?).

The warm towel, the compass and mostly the flare gun are items that I imagine to be useful when being "trapped outdoors" in a small boat.

EDIT: Of course Greenpeace does not attack anybody, just remembered the pictures of them protesting against whaling ships..

Just 15 minutes after I finally brought myself to post a thesis on these things, tidowave comes up with some news.
At least they did not disprove my assumption yet...
