Hell one of the articles said they find the camera at Coney Island, which is one thing we know for sure isn't true.
No, no, no, no, no... finding the camera at Coney Island is never mentioned. It's just a flashback event (A JJ Abrams favorite.)

The most interesting news is that the film will work in a flashback style, where some kids are found at Coney Island after the monster has destroyed New York City and they find a camera and pick it up and watch it from the start

that doesn't fit with the military designation, I'm not sure I trust the plot details in that report.

Yes. Read that again.

I have to agree with that there would be incident site 447 designate "Cloverfield". Then it is probably something to do with the military. Like the post where the military turns it off after watching it and the monster is then coming towards them.

When they say flashback style they mean it's a flashback through the eyes of the people watching at the clean-up. But the report states again

And either way they don't find the camera at Coney Island they find it in central park. The article states that the dead kids are found at Coney Island with the tape

That would be a great ending. The footage cuts off, and it pulls out to a regular camera shot of the military dudes. Some shocked silence and disgust as they ponder what they just saw, then EARTHQUAKE. Cue roar, cut to black screen.

Kids in Coney Island the day BEFORE they die.
Why is this so hard to understand? Sorry... don't mean to sound condescending, even though I know I probably am.
Scene: Kids (if you can call 20 somethings kids) go to Coney Island the day of the attack with hand held camera. Shoot a few scenes. Later that night same camera winds up at going away party and then eventually, at Central Park.
Some later re-posts of the story which I have included here probably cloud the issue.

Yes but for the fourth time the report I am citing says that they find the tapes at coney island after the monster has attacked.
I don't understand why you can't read the damn quote I've put up twice from one of the articles you posted.
All I am saying is that the article is not credible because they don't find the camera at Coney Island as they state in this article

I think I'll sit on this one until 01-18-08
Right or wrong I'll enjoy this film to the Maxxx.

Point A) The alien descending from the sky theory fits with the big explosion (sort of), but other of your sources say that it came here years ago which, I think, would kind of make the "something has found us" tagline not make sense. I don't think the average moviegoer will go for, "Oh yeah, it JUST found us but it's been here for years." Of course that could just be a production "error".
Point B) Man, I forgot what point b was gonna be...
EDIT: Oh yeah.
Point B) If there were Coney Island scenes that go chronologically before the party scene, why would the military care? Going along with the "the army found this tape and edited it" theory, the only reason the military would include part of the tape that was before the attack is that Rob and Co. have some significant part in the attack (and by that I mean BEFORE the attack), or they just didn't feel like cutting that part out.

"Incident site 447 designate "Cloverfield" was inspired and modeled after "The Manhattan Project"... Just the name, not the reason.

If that isn't the ending JJ should order a reshoot
