 		The fact remains. We have successfully derailed his post. Euchre, your analogy was fine in regards to the zilla/Toho merchandising and franchising fiasco. Bottom line, it would cost too much, and JJ doesn't have that kind of shwag for this movie. It's him, Burke, Goddard, and Reeves against the world. No name brands, no merchandising rights, just a bunch of fanboys like us looking to make the coolest flick possible on a small amount of cash.

That was a fair number of years ago now. My dad worked in a business that was licensing a character, and as a result they sent boxes of all the latest releases. Nobody at the offices really much cared about them, so my dad brought them to me. Eventually the rep sent them straight to my dad - even after he and the business parted ways. It was a good few years of freebies, and fairly soon I'll be liquidating what I don't have a specific fondness for.
I'll keep Ambush Bug.

Euchre, I like ya and all that, but Hurley's spot on about Cap Marvel -- you don't have your facts straight about The Big Red Cheese. Captain Marvel is, and always has been, a FAWCETT character, from back in the 40s, long before Marvel Comics ever introduced their namesake in the late 60s. Later when DC bought the rights, the confusion didn't get any better. You folks seem to be mad at me because DC chose to try to rename the character to shed his 'Marvelesque' identity. I don't pose that his name was ever supposed to be that, and I remember in the 80s (when I was getting DC comics for free for a while) DC still insisted on calling him Shazam.


No they didn't, the character has always been known as Captain Marvel, the COMIC is known as Shazam! though as Marvel established their own claim the the use of the Captain Marvel as the TITLE of the comic. This means that DC can have a character called Captain Marvel, but cannot have the name on the cover or use it in promotional material. He is Captain Marvel within the pages of the comics though.

"They dont have the money"
Toho could easily give it to him for free or for a low price because they hate the thing and want to make him popular. As for the producer guy (NOT JJ ABRAMS) saying it was completely original, probably because he doesnt know what zilla is or looks like and they never name him in the movie.
