So he's an obsessed wrestling fan that spends a fair bit of money on that stuff. Of course we all know wrestling is about sensationalism...

Not that sensationalism could possibly have any implications here, eh?
Cool

I can't really see the connection, and I hate wrestling.

reasons why its not the cloverfield monster

one. nether the arms or legs match up to the trailer/clip. look at the image i made below. if it was the arms then there attached the wrong way. the joint don't match up to the trailer. in the trailer (if it arms) then the joints would be reversed. if its legs then again the joints don't match up. the legs in the trailer look the same shape/joint arrangement as godzilla (am not saying its godzilla. just using the joints in godzilla legs as an example. the 1998 version btw) i drew in blue what the legs look like there goign to be. the legs in the trailer also don't have the overlapping armour present in the picture posted

the smooth surface i have highlighte din the pictures don't match up ether. in the picture there roughly the same hight as the legs. but yet in the trailer the smooth area is much higher. more towards its head.

the image reminds me of this monster form the godzilla tv cartoon

That leg you marked isn't a leg, you see the whole thing go past in the widget clip, there's not much below the 'knee' except maybe a few claws.

I think we see two right arms, the small one in the first few frames, the big one pointing down at the end of the clip.

Here's a sloppy sketch of what it might look like in streetlight

IMO this is definitely the work of an amateur...anything that was officially commissioned by the creators of the film would have a more polished look to it...like someone said before probably the work of an aspiring designer...not bad tho

the thing I marked can't realy be anythign else. nothing on the picture posted here matches whats on the trailer. show me on the image what matchs what i highlighted. oh and btw. u actualy see better detail of the monster int he trailers than u do in that clip. it might be a fraction of a second longer but its lower quality. so saying u see it hole thing walk past is true. but u have no quality to pick out anything usful. it basicly longer than the trailer. still showing nothing.

for a movie thats doing all this viral marketing and stuff. being realistic in it all. with the website and the view. i can't see them suddenly changing style for this one. it doens't make sense to suddenly jump to anime style drawing for the marketing

also i can't see them putting the monster anywhere near a piece of marketing.

Yeah, why put an image of "the monster" when they're not going to market the monster?

I'm not seeing a leg here.

In terms of this design, we'd be seeing a forearm with a claw, and one of those purple feeler things unfurling behind it.

Thanks, maybe 30 mins, probably longer.

They've already said they'll be selling a model of the monster... I don't think they were going to reveal it before the film though.

Hmmn. If it's real, then it's either a conscious fake by JJ to throw everyone off, or a HIGHLY stylized version of the actual monster. It's pretty obvious it's been toned down to look like a guy in a suit, but I have a feeling that they went a bit further then that. Like simplifying the arms, getting a few details like the armor wrong, straightening the legs instead of depicting them as bended....That's my 2 cents, at least.
