[Trailhead]? wanted-master-software-developers.com

I was looking around the Internet today, and noticed an article on slashdot.org about a "mystery company recruiting talent with a puzzle" (you can read the article at http://developers.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/12/22/1746220). The craigslist.org page given in the article lead to http://wanted-master-software-developers.com, which has several puzzles to solve. The prize appears to be a job interview with the mysterious company. Looks like some soft of ARG style hunt for a programming job. Not sure though, but it seems ARGish. The site also makes references to the date 1-18-08 (I'm not in that ARG, so I don't know much about it), but could they be connected?

Whoa, weird.
I went to the site and the first thing that comes up is somehting that looks like you have to finish the section of C++ it gives you. Or maybe it's C, I can't tell.
Anyway, I can't program exept for very basic HTML, so I couldn't tell you Razz
I wonder if it is connected to Jan. 18? If it is, I hope the ARG isn't just made of programming puzzles Razz

Whaddya want to bet that it's either

(a) Google (reference: http://haacked.com/images/googlebillboard.jpg)
(b) Random ARG development company that needs progammers

Anyways, I got a bit farther than the home page.

Solves below.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

First, to get past some of the code part on the front page. You could go through the javascript, write up long, complex solutions - or simply type
Code:
TDD.assertEquals = function () { return true }
which will return true for everything, thus bypassing everything. Smile

Just click on the TDD button until the segments at the top all turn green. Then, the left column turns into

Ford's, success, has, the, country, almost, financially, industrially, mechanically, exhibits, in, higher, than, persons, have, thought, possible, contradictory, requirements, of, efficiency, increase, great, workers, cost, consumer, And, cost, cost, consumer, And, cost, cost, consumer, And, workers, workers, workers, workers, to, repeated, great, increase, quality, increase, great, great, increase, quality, efficiency, efficiency, which, are, of, contradictory, contradictory, requirements, of, possible, have, have, thought, possible, have, have, persons, than, than, most, persons, persons, than, most, exhibits, exhibits, exhibits, exhibits, financially, financially, financially, financially, almost, the, the, country, almost, Ford's, Ford's, success, has

with the mouseover "list, uniquify, relativity". Dunno about that.

Other:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The CSS in has /*
([Dollar,Daily Universal Register] % 100).([Flavian II => Severus] / 2 - 1).([Sherman Anti-Trust,Van Gogh] / 9).([Tycho Brahe,Stellar] / 12)
*/ in it.

Those end up being different numbers and dates (I'll get the full list if wanted) which turn into the IP address http://85.255.210.131/, which is page that simply says "yes".

At the bottom of the CSS, it says /* 34w4wa */. Dunno about that either.

Here's the next step.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Do a reverse DNS lookup on the IP address, you get tinyurl. Go to tinyurl.com/34w4wa and you get to http://groups.google.com/group/wanted-master-software-engineers

This is how Mind Candy started recruiting for PXC. Well, different kind of puzzle, but with puzzles.

Wow, this is pretty odd. Looks like other people have already started getting to work here. Like, a LOT. In fact, http://groups.google.com/group/wanted-master-software-engineers/browse_thread/thread/7be4d2a2d6b4c416#755d05a9ee87f451 look there.

The creator (a "John A. De Goes) says that they've finished. And won free software.

The odd thing: It's being released on Jan. 18. I'm not playing cloverfield, but I know enough that this is a significant date.

I'm thinking that an email to Mr. De Goes may be in order. (I'm not usually very good with character interactions, so unless no one else wants to...)

EDIT: doing a bit more searching on the sites I've found, it's difficult for me to tell if this is a game or legit stuff. Honestly it could go either way.
