During that last roar I mentioned, that mysterious shriek from the theatrical trailer (01:26) plays, pretty much confirming that it comes from GP, though I don't really see how it could especially considering it's supposed to be whale-related and it makes such a deep roar. What animal makes a noise like that? All I can think of is a bat, although obviously a movie about a Bat-Whale wouldn't fare too well with audiences.
And is it just me or is there someone's echoing scream near the end of that roar?

know what would be hilarious? After all this hype and chaos since July....if this is one big JJ Rick roll for us online people. Like 45 minutes into the movie just when they're about to show the monsters face.....you see Rick...... "Neva gonna give you up!!" etc etc. That would be funny. :\

Makes you wonder about PG-13...and appropriateness...
"Make it PG-13 for a larger demographic but...throw a warning at em that it might not be even appropriate for 13 year olds anyway-GENIUS!"
I just thought it was funny to split hairs after the fact...Still this is reassuring a bit.
Awesome roars too.

While blasting my speakers, I have to say that radio ad got me more hyped for this movie then any of the trailers. Got the chills while listening, Cant wait.
Good call! I agree 100%
It seems scarier when you can't see what's going on.

In trailers you have to make sure there's visual appeal in most all of it, audio takes sort of a back seat. With audio you have to have interesting things the whole way through. These are sweet.

Sorry first time poster looong time lurker...nothing personal just a little irked no one caught on to what marlena says in the trailer. Yes she does say "we cannot go into the middle of the city!" But due to quick editing she also yells "HUD, GET OUT OF HERE!" almost in what sounds like one quick sentence. Watch it again carefully if you dont know what I am talking about....otherwise great reading and speculations....keep it up guys!

Sorry, I have to disagree about her saying Hud.

This is awesome, I can't wait for the film. The last roar reminds me of Godzilla's roar. It sounds like MGP is in pain, or is angry? But now I'm addicted to MGP's roars.
Thanks

What really strikes me as peculiar about these radio ads is the silence towards the end. It falls very out of pace with the rest of the ad, and isn't in the rhythm of it either. The way it comes back in with a really abrupt crash doesn't follow the usual 'silence-then-boom' tempo.

picture a huge open mouth, twice the size of an adult male, roaring in your face...wishing it had a breath mint...
i can't think of the movie, but its an almost iconic monster-human meeting...
Actually, I disagree. It sounds like there is a crowd of people who see MGP's face, then someone (don't know who) says oh my god with people screaming in the background. Also, I don't think that his roar sounds like Godzilla's, as my friend in my spanish class points out.

I was thinking the same thing.
I thought it might be an error in the sound file.
If that was deliberate, then it's kind of a strange choice.

Sorry, I meant MGP's screech sounds sort of like Godzilla's, because when Godzilla roars, it is a high-pitched screech, and we've never heard MGP roar really high pitched before, so you know.
Anyway, I keep listening to this over and over, I can't wait, and I hope they bring out more TV spots soon =)

Listening to it at work with my earphones is definitely an experience! The roars do sound different than in the video trailers. I can't wait until these spots are more prevalent both on the tube and on the radio - so far, I haven't seen or heard either, except here...still waiting...
I have to agreee about the silence near the end - it really doesn't flow...

Could someone please post the file? I'm having technical difficulties through the direct link.

Cool ad. The roars sound even better and more scary.
