If that is something like how it works... I hope the game still continues. *really wants it to be the Beast II* I mean, it would be really mean to hype us all up and then to go "Surprise! It was just to hype Halo 2! Go buy the game have fun now buh-bye."
*shrugs*

i disagree I think it would be awesome if they just killed it and gave me halo 2.
however, I'm convinced that http://enkidu.bungie.org/ spells it out pretty well. See my other tread concerning that. This might not be the ARG we have been waiting for.....

Blah. No way.
Honey swag was sent to various ARG sites because, guess what?

Yeah if the PMs hadn't tipped off the ARG sites I would believe that this could just be hype and not a game. I think this is still going to progress into a more indepth game, but may still be hype for Halo 2.

agreed.
While some people involved in ARGs are into other games/genres, we're not the best target audience for such things. If they were going to take the time to build a beekeeper's site and send out honey for nothing more than an early release, they would have sent the honey to a different target (halo sites? xbox sites?). It's not as if the ARG sites get a vast amount of traffic or have a large sphere of influence when compared to some of the other gaming sites/genres. They brought us into this for a reason and that reason seems to be pretty obvious (woo!!).
However, people will see what they want to see and believe what they want to believe.

For bungie to send the honey and such to halo/xbox sites would be to obvious... MUCH TOO obvious... NOw what if this has nothing to do with Halo2 at all, what if this has to do with xbox live.. There is to be a new version coming out soon, 3.0 that will allow for clans and such... this would tie into the whole network code countdown....

A website entirely based on FPS games for the xbox makes (extraneous) links to everything being pointed towards the release of an xbox FPS game.... well that's a surprise ;)
Hype is obviously involved here, and hype is what they're getting. However this pans out, a lot of cheap publicity concerning Halo 2, Bungie and Microsoft has/will happen. But there is more to this than hype. It's easy enough to look on the surface and come to a conclusion such as the author of the linked article made, but as others have said, why involve the ARG community, why go to such lengths if there is not a game already taking place here and now.

I think it's more likely that they're trying to introduce Halo players to the world of ARGs than that they're trying to introduce ARG players to the world of Halo
