the lady's husband was SIR JOHN GREY
http://www.literaturepage.com/read/shakespeare-henry-vi-third-part-44.html

So the old bill would be "William Shakespeare"
Now, I'll go back to just watching.

I think you're on to something, natas!

Now we just need to figure out what old William "Bill" Shakespeare would have considered John Gray . . .

"The answer is what old Bill would consider John as Grey"

Is that the original question/riddle?
If so, the answer is william shakespeare. He is the "bill" that considers John as Grey.

I have been working on the conversion. I got all the numbers converted to text and this is what I came up with.

Now I guess we just have to unscramble it.

I also think you guys may be onto something with Act III, Scene ii. I remember learning that many moons ago in school. I will see what I come up with.

I think that's a little too easy, though, natas.

But then again . . . he twisted our rules to fit his ends, why don't we twist right back at him? Twisted Evil

Too easy? It's taken us a good few days to get it.. with help :p And even if it's not, twisting rules sounds good...

That is the proper citation for Act III Scene ii---that's a given. In my emails with Bobby I quote from Midsummer ---I'm a theatre teacher irl, I also have a degree in 17th Century literature, my main focus was on Shakespeare and the Tribe of Ben.

Let me do some digging.

From Shakespeare's lesser known play 'King John' act III sc ii

http://shakespeare.thefreelibrary.com/King-John/4-2

No Grey, but an ominous similarity...
Still digging.

If you look at the Henry passage with Lady Grey---her husband John Grey has been murdered and his lands taken--and she has come to take them back---this play was commented on in a friend of mine's LJ a few weeks ago---surely I'm being paranoid to think I've ticked off a PM to the point to where he//she is going obscure on my ass to pay Gideon back for his sharp tongue Wink

Look at the question again---I don't think it's as simple as finding a "John Grey"

So again does the answer lie in the "What" or the "Bill"?

Is the riddle asking for a Bill or is the riddle asking for something else that would cause Old Bill to consider John as Grey...I think there's a puzzle inside the puzzle.
