[RANDOM SPEC] Thought of interpretation

Now, I don't know a whole lot about Marathon, so a lot of you have a one up on me. But, sticking to just the Halo universe, I've been thinking about the story that was pieced together.

When we last left our courageous Master Chief in Halo, he was aboard a Pelican with Cortana, the only two survivers from the Pillar of Autumn. Unless there's more story than I know of, that's all we know happened. I haven't seen schematics, but I doubt that a Pelican could get them home, or even to a human outpost, in a short amount of time.

What I take from the tale of the Widow and the Queen is that Cortana is the Widow, and Master Chief is the Queen. (Yes, I know he's male.) Here's my thoughts:

While Master Chief and Cortana are trying to just get somewhere, they're attacked by a Covenant ship that lingered. Master Chief was able to board the ship somehow, got into a furious battle, and came out victorious. However, the battle was too much of a strain on him, and he was near death, more mentally than physically. Cortana, the widow, 'awakens', and kind of delves into his mind and/or. In his mind, she sees what he's gone through up to that point, which could be considered Hell.

The Manticore is some part of Master Cheif's mind that was scarred by what he's been through, or part of the suit that got damaged and did not recognize her program. She defeated it, and got past to either the core of Master Cheif's mind or to the core of the suit, or maybe both. She was able to heal whichever, and when she was done, she attached herself to the Covenant ship's system, found scraglers, and told them to go back to their home and warn everyone that Master Chief was still alive and kickin', ready to stomp whoever comes after him.

One reason I thought of this was of Widow. While many are using that to refer to a Black Widow Spider, there's another kind: A husbandless kind. The Pillar of Autumn could be considered Cortana's 'mate', since she was a part of it, and since it was destroyed, she became a widow, or an AI without a ship to control.

This was just something I was thinking of while going over this in my head. I also don't know any of the story of Halo 2 (if part of that has come out) aside from it's probably taking place on Earth, so there's a chance that something exists that contradicts my speculation. Comment as you wish.

And this is where the third Halo novel, First Strike comes into play. It tells the story between Halo and Halo 2 - and the MC (John-117) and Cortana arnen't the only survivors.

Well first of all, you have your facts a little wrong. They escaped on a longsword fighter, which quite possibly could go to slipspace. But if you read the First Strike book, Master Cheif and Cortana hijack a covenant flagship in order to get home. This is all in the first few chapters, so I don't want to spoil anything else. I recommend picking up the books, at least Fall of Reach and First Strike, as they are FULL of juicy story. The Flood is basically the same as the game, but with a few more perspectives being told through. Lol I know I'm a noob, but I've been scouring these forums for the last few days, and just wanted to point out your mistakes. And about the rest... sounds a little farfetched. But what do I know, I'm a noob. Wink

Yeah, I haven't read the novels. Sounds like I should. Thanks for correcting me about them escaping on the longsword, I got confused. Eh, it's already been shot down. Mods care to lock/delete?
