 		No one seems to have mentioned that if there are smaller creatures that spread through some sort of infection...

...this would be like a field of clover

 		This was seconded by a family member with past military experience.

In fact, without mentioning my own theory, it was exactly what he also speculated.

Jeez, the infection idea is way overrated, I hope JJ didn't take this approach.
