Well... technically the website is hosted on a server owned by hosting giant Rackspace (the kind of place that offers 500MB of storage for free when you sign up... also the kind of place that easily survives slashdotting). Rackspace has locations in a few places, one of which is London and the other is Virginia. My bet is that it is hosted at the VA location, hence the EST server clock.

Oh well, I guess the other option would have been hosting it at MS, at least it has the right Timezone... but I suppose they wouldn't want it to be that obvious a connection.

Microsoft's main HQ is in Washington State.

The server is hosted in Texas (I remember a post being made that said that)

The countdown is based on the time of YOUR computer, not the server's.

no number8 it was 11 here, when it switched to 1 day. Its not based on your computer. If it were i could skip the date ahead and it would show me what happens right?

I doubt the "this server speaks in pictures" has anything to do with anything. I use blogger's image hosting service and that message was there at least a week ago when I started using it.

And I really don't think blogger would let its server be messed with at all when it's hosting thousands of other peoples' pictures.

I checked that cookie out quick. It looks like it's just a session identifier. Not sure what it's used for, but the 24 character content string is random and not base64 encoded.

I find the name a bit interesting. The name "y1dt8hx" sounds with a bit of imagination like " why I did the hoax".

I think that the answer to all this rubbish lies in Aunt M's hotmail account.

We find the password we find our answer to the voodoo thingy..

hmm i can only speculate but i think her p/w is y1dt8hx but we will never know because too many people tried to get into it...

You are NOT supposed to get access to the hotmail account.

That's been stated MULTIPLE times by the only In-Game contact that we have.

Don't try to get into it, because you're not meant to.
Don't try to get into her voice mail, either. You're not supposed to have access to them.

From what I can tell, the previous snapshots posted on the blog
are from the users C: drive, not an HTTP.

Actually the countdown IS based on the local (your comptuer) time.
Try changing your dates/times in windows and the counter will add/subract accordingly. The countdown reaches zero on Aug 24 at 06:07 AM.

The dates however are not affected, so those should be based on the server.

And no we are not supposed to hack into the hotmail account. This has been discouraged by Dana. Ditto with the voice mail.
