I can't get that bee.mp3 file to download.

I got to thinking... what if we've been provided with everything we need?

I took the Piping file and used it as a noise sample to subtract from the bee1 file. What I got sounds like 5 tones.

It's pure speculation, but do these tones correspond to anything? A voicemail password?

After reading up on Dual-tone multi-frequency dialing (touch tone dialing), I don't think there's an angle there. DTMF maps the touchpad like a grid, using two sets of non-harmonic tones to map the key press based on X and Y coordinates.

In short, the telephone touch tone is actually two discreet frequencies and not one. A spectral analysis of the tones shows them to be mostly pure, and only two showed signs of having multiple frequencies.

I'm no expert on the matter, but it just seems unlikely.

There is more than just voice in this file, on the spectrum anaylyzer and the voice analyzer it looks jsut to "Pregnant", Also if you boost the High freq in sound forge under smooth enhance a couple of times, you get what sounds a lot like modem noise, anyone wanna try it out and see if it is anything? it may also be part of a steg pattern...

The link from Gatsu is definitely the same bee sound. The link is http://www.christiananswers.net/kids/audio/bee.mp3 (he had a period at the end of the link).

The two files sounds exactly the same which also leads me to believe that bees1.wav has been altered. Go have a listen, it's pretty clear when compare to the original.

Does anyone have a link to an "original" (as in, not upconverted from the mp3) wav file of the bees noise posted above, aside from the ilovebees version? We could compare the two, subtract the two, etc.. but because mp3 is a lossy format, I'm not sure how well subtracting an mp3 and a WAV would work out. You'd probably get a lot of the frequencies that're left out in the MP3 compression left in there, which would make analyzing it hard. Nonetheless, I'll try. Results will be posted if I get anything.

Hey, this is all pretty interesting. I wanted to mess around with those sounds myself but I don't know how to save them on my computer. Can anyone help? ( I have Windows XP)

If you have Netscape, you can open any of the attachments, and go File -> Save Page As (if it doesn't default to you to a .wav format, make sure to change the format accordingly). If you are talking about the original files from the site, you can either repeat this procedure for the links below, or just right-click the link and go Save Link Target As

Out of curiosity I tried doing a noise reduction filter on bee.mp3 and it reveals the same speech-like sounds as the ilovebees bee1.wav. So I think it's just normal bee noises.

Is it just me or if you play around with filters on the sounds you can get them to sound like whatever the heck you want?

Well, Project Syzygy had sound files (which turned out to be nothing) and they were a hell of a lot clearer than these and even then we couldn't make it out properly.

If you tell yourself that these are the words and repeatedly listen to the same sound, you'll eventually start to "hear" them or believe you are. Even if they're not there.

Has anyone thought to try and look at these in hex and check to see if thats causing the distortions?

I boosted the sound level of bees.mp3 to 15dB, that seemed to match the level of bees1.wav. After noise reduction, it left something, but I can't make anything out of it.

I was glad to finally see a high-res version of the trailer, for that very same reason. Wink
