Was it me, or was there less camera shake? I saw almost none in the entire trailer, and in particular, when they were on the roof running from falling debris, I remember the camera shaking more. Think they removed some of it?

We see a lots of clips, it seems to me, in the grand scheme of the movie, the camera shake is more apparent.

When you see the first trailer with basically only the party scene, it looks like it was done on a camcorder.

I think when we watch the straight up movie we'll be able to see the camera shake better.

I agree, but I think it's more likely they're 15's. F-15's would be launched from a Air Guard or Airforce base, while the F-18's would come from an aircraft carrier or a Naval base.

I just hope they aren't F-22's. Those things are brand new, and I'm already tired of seeing them. Everyone's putting them in movies now, cause they're "cool".

Yeah, Raptors are awesome but way overused in film. Hell, we have yet to use them in combat (that we know of Wink ). The JSF is pretty sweet too. I cannot wait to see them in action.

Here are some close ups of the jet's from the trailer, they are F-18's. F-15's do not have missile rails on the wing tips. The afterburners are also too close to be an F-15's, the F-18's are close together like the ones pictured. Also note the shape of the fuselage is that of an F-18. Sorry, it's my job to know these things Very Happy . Been working with them for 18 years now.

As far as the Guard base or Air Base goes, well anything is possible in film. There may be an Air Force base closer than a Naval base however there are many factors that contribute to who would respond first. There is a rotation between the services for aircraft "on call" to respond to situations in and around NYC since 9/11. Or, the Navy has been tracking this creature since it was picked up on sonar by a Naval ship or buoy. There are all types of buoy's located all throughout the oceans surrounding the US for thousands of miles. The military does monitor civilian and other government buoy's for national security purposes.

The F-35 appears to be a smaller F-22. I hear they're gonna replace the single-seat F-18's as the Navy's carrier-based fighter.

Yes, it will replace the Navy F-18, Air Force F-16, and the Marines F-18 and AV-8 Harrier eventually. The F-35 JSF (Joint Strike Fighter) is a cost effective joint service attack aircraft. The parts are interchangeable between services (for the most part) as well as the maintenance crew. An Air Force maintainer can repair an Navy or Marine F-35 or vise versa. It is an amazing accomplishment that will save billions of dollars. The difference between the three service jets will be that the Navy will have slightly larger wings and heavier landing gear to handle the stress of landing on an aircraft carrier. The USMC version will be a "jump jet" using the VSTOL (Vertical/Short Take-Off and Landing) much like the AV-8 Harrier.

I'm amazed that the F-18 is in the process of being fazed out. I remember when it was the state of the art, the most advanced fighter on Earth!

Oh yeah, that was 20 years ago. Damn I'm old.

Haha, welcome to the old people club my friend. We should still see them around for another 10-15 years on active duty, then they will fall to the reserve units. Hell the B-52 will have been in service 80 years when they finally retire all of them in 2040, crazy eh?

I find it funny, now, that the F-14, the fighter made famous by "Top Gun" is now used as Opposition Aircraft at the Top Gun school.

I also find it interesting that most of them are painted to resemble Iranian fighters. Who are they training our Naval Aviators to dogfight with these days? Wink

So, my question is, does the New Years special mean that the PM's will be taking the day off?

Because I'm starting to care less and less for the tv spots and want the 'game' to progess.

I'm bored.

The only thing I really took notice of was that random 'fire ball' blaze across the sky into the building... It didn't 'rain' like the others... it shot across.

"fire ball shooting across"
"the air caught on fire"

Wow, that was cool. Didnt see it till just now, as a) im english, and b) I spent new years elsewhere. Well anyway, the 'fireball' is probaly a missed rocket, it seems like they are very close to the monster during that scene. Overall, it wasnt that much new, but the extra goodbye scene was...well...wierd...

Also (although this is troutish, I just never noticed it before, the 'blurred' soldier appears to be wearing no hat, although when he was pixelated, I could have sworn he was. Not sure though, anyone else see this?

Also, I've been trying, but I cant see the tagruato symbol on the tanker, can anyone either direct me to a screenshot, or take one?
