They ARE completely expendable...but not having at least jamie at the party would create a large inconsistency. It's rather difficult to write something at a party if you're dead/not present at said party.
As for the videos, i believe they are live. If they weren't live, jamie wouldn't have uploaded the gift one, the one with the dude in her bed, or the one where she mentions cranberries. I believe they are live feeds that are automatically posted so that one can save it to hard drives. It is very doable and makes the most sense with what we know so far.

 		So you are basically suggesting that the teaser was only meant to generate interest in an ARG and that basically the ARG has no bearing on the promotion of the movie, because such inconsistencies (continuity errors) are not going to be known to moviegoers at all? Doesn't really make much sense. The reason to have the teaser is to promote the movie, not an ARG. The reason to have an ARG is to promote the movie. So where in all of that does it make sense to have a storyline that basically dies and bears no consequential relationship to the movie? The only result is confusion and annoyed audiences.
Keep in mind that this isn't your usual 'ARG', but more accurately an interactive viral campaign. This is not a case of puzzles to work out for rewards, it's more about clues to illuminate a mystery. ARGs have a greater ability to exist within the universe of something but be inconsistent with more conventional story lines. Campaigns like this really have to stay consistent with the conventional media's storyline.

Why can't people accept that Jamie is a part of the one Cloverfield 'reality' and that she's just a red shirt that not actually be seen on camera but is effectively 'there'?

However, they could have chosen infinitely better ways to do this without pictures if we weren't meant to see that these characters were, in fact, there. The creators of this arg/are might as well post a "DUMBASS" sticker on their forehead if they wish to overlook such a large error such as showing jamie in a photo and then have her killed off early.

well first of all your argument about rob showing up late and so the jamie pic could have been taken beforehand is wrong due to the fact that rob is in the pic with jamie.

but overall i probably wasn't clear on what i was saying in my 2nd post on here. what i meant is that i believe this to be an are more than an arg. and the experience that we are given by the pm's is simply extra background info. I feel that the movie will be more than able to stand on its own and be a great monster movie. but i think that they are rewarding those of us who have gotten involved in the are with more background info that will make the move all the more enjoyable, while having it not be crucial to the movie itself. basically if you didn't follow the are you will love the movie for what it is. if you did follow the are you will love the movie and understand a much deeper story that goes into it.

afterall this whole movie is going to be shown through the perspective of rob/hud/ whoever is holding the video camera so unless they meet someone who actually knows everything that is going on and is willing to take the time to explain to rob that this is a monster created/found by tagruato at their chaui station . . . etc. than no real answers will be given out in the movie as to the origin of the monster, what created it or where it came from. so IMO the are is being setup solely to answer those questions for us ahead of time.

now i know that might sound like it will piss off people who didn't follow the are and will leave them scratching their heads as to what the hell just happened, but i think that this movie will be made in such a way that the answers are not necessary but just kind of like extra credit.

however i do acknowledge that there is one other way for the movie to pan out so that answers will be shown but that would require the movie to be done partially through non-handi cam perspective like maybe showing news footage archived in whatever government office found the camera or something like that, but that is a bit OT.

anywho my final thought is that i will say that jamie has a chance of being in the movie since she was on the 1-18-08.com pic, but that means that she will be in it only as much as the crazy japanese chef, cuz they are both on 1 pic on that site.

 		I wonder if she isnt in the trailers...or in the credits of the trailers to make in amiguious as to whether she is in it or not. So we dont know what happens to her.

Rob says something along the lines of 'we're with you', even though it appears it was his original idea to go off. Granted they may be unrelated, but I got the impression that someone off camera came along. I was thinking, Jamie, Randy or Teddy. Granted, this is wild speculation, but thats the impression I got.

The main thing is my first point.

Pretty much agreed. I honestly don't care if she's not in the movie. Wouldn't bother me if she wasn't. I just don't want to see her killed off early.
That being said, i wouldn't mind her being dominated by mgp early on in the movie. I agree with euchre, she's red-shirted for sure.

 		Hello Everyone, My name is Joe and I'm a Cloverfield'a'holic. ( HI JOE ). I really enjoy reading all the different ideas and theories about this upcoming film. I would like to offer a speculation of my own regarding Jamie. I am of the opinion that Jamie is the real leader of T.i.d.owave. Her videos portray her as a dumb blonde, but I believe they are a ruse to through off any suspicion towards her. She has a Degree in Origanizational communication learning and design, (OCLD) which leads me to believe she is not quite what her videos would would have us think she is based upon first impressions. Anyway, Just my .02 cents. Oh BTW, has anybody ever heard of Kongzilla or Randy Bowen and his awesome statue figures? We now resume our regular A.R.E.
