Voice overs in trailer?
Seen in New Years Eve Clip

This is a typical editing technique to create a more intense preview. I noticed that a few scenes in the trailer, have been edited where they use a voice over, the words dont match up with his lips, like it was grabbed and dropped in...in particular, i was watching it on TV and if u look at the New Years Eve clip, the scene of Rob talking to Lily, look closely at Rob's lips, you hear him say "Stay here ok?, ill go"...but i dont think he is actually saying those words, the lips dont match.(52 seconds into youtube clip).

http://youtube.com/watch?v=f38JetJmb0M

Theres another scene where he says, "Die here, die in the tunnels or die in the streets" when Rob looks at the map(1:08 into the youtube clip)...he is saying something else, but they make it belivable that hes saying those words since you would think him pointing to a map, he would say something like that, his head is turned away also.

And?
What about this? You state yourself it is a common technique. Thank you for pointing it out, but it doesn't help us get anywhere.

Trailers have had lines, or even whole scenes that weren't in the actual movie for as long as i can remember.

Drives me crazy. Sometimes, what looks like the best scene, or funniest line in the movie is in the trailer, but not the film.

I bet "I saw it, it's alive, it's huge!" isn't even in the movie.

it was just a tidbit, that u cant take the lines said in the trailer used for that scene beleivable, when it comes from somewhere else. alot of people out there might interpret that what is being said, at that point, by that person, in actuality, is saying something totally different in the real movie.

I had noticed that too, half of the words in the TV Spots dont match up with the mouthes of actors.
But, surprisingly, when Lil says "What IS that?" just before Statues head comes down, that actually matches her mouth, although she doesn't say that in the final cut.

[another theory is]

this movie has been changed and altered numerous times. Perhaps they wanted to change the script a bit w/o having to re-do the entire scene... so they do a voice over.

Most of the lines in the trailer span multiple camera shots, so it would be impossible for the voice to match the whole phrase, given the single camera setup.

JJ's 'There's not going to be a lull' looks like it's from the same footage as 'It's still here', doesn't match Rob's 'lull' bit anyway.

We were talking about this while watching the clip last night. It seems that the whole point of this type of trailer is to draw you in and then confuse the hell out of you. You kind of know what is going on, but are still surprised in the end.

I also think the explosion is caused by a tanker being thrown into a building. In one shot, it looked like a tanker or boat shape was silhouetted behind the building when everything went kablooey.

Also, the explosion downtown looks as if it has been remade?

But the thing is. We don't NEED to get anywhere anymore. The movie comes out in 18 days.

One major one is the WHAT IS THAT? spoken by Lily. That is clearly Lily in the beginning saying WHere is Jason or Is he inside? because in the widget clip she doens't say anything of the sort in the on the street after party scene.
