What if the sonar shots we recieved are actually the remains of the station. Nothing really points to the fact that it is or isnt the station. Which could mean that Chuai has been gone for a few days. Reading the blog posts, it looks to me like Jamie posted on tidowave asking about Randy (her contact) because he was out there looking for Chuai.

So my guess is that Chuai has been gone for at least a few days.

well if they didn't find anything today, meaning they got back from the station today, then news won't hit till tomorrow morning

then again, it is in the middle of nowhere, they could go for a week or so between radio communication with the base in japan or something and so no one will know until a week has passed

Ah, even if this is fictional, believe me, this will not go unnoticed. I remember "Hunt for Red October", and this was 20 years ago, and this is simillar. I can't point a finger at the right Secret Service, but whoever is responsible for watching the waves, knows what is going on. And they don't react? Impossible. THEY hear and read everything in real life, even this forum, I'm very sure of. And we think they (of the game) wouldn't read the communication with the base in Japan? Come on......

regarding underwater station

This is from the investor news page from the Tagruato homepage:

Quote:

Tagruato announces plans for "undersea construction sites"

Next time you drive by a large construction site demolishing a building or putting up new infrastructure, imagine it underwater.

Such is the latest directive of the Tagruato corporation. Company spokeswoman Suzume Soga announced this week that Tagruato has long been developing vehicles and machinery that will operate at the same capacity as the bulldozers and cranes you pass on the freeway each day, but also function at the ocean's greatest depths. COO Danno Jo, right hand man and cousin of CEO Ganu Yoshida, has been overseeing the revolutionary project.

"There are great reservoirs under the ocean floor that no one can get to due to obstruction by physical elements," explained Jo at the December 18th press conference. "With these new technologies in place, Tagruato will destroy any barrier."

Another benefit of these new technologies is the ability to actually construct drilling stations from the ground up. In the past, the process has been to build the various parts of the station in Tagruato's mainland factories, ship them across the oceans on aircraft carriers, and then reassemble them underwater. The process can be costly and time consuming.

"We can now skip that step," said Danno. "In a perfect world, we'll never have to work from the surface again."

Good point, Joshy!

It means perhaps, the station exists and isn't distroyed. And Teddy is now there. And TIDO people need to get some experiences with diving (OK, not seriously, if it's "underwater", its really deep).

So if Chuai is destroyed which station shows up in the harbor SOL? Did MGP surface an underwater station and drag it to NYC or vice versa? Just some out loud spec. but I think (agree with those who think) it is underwater either by design or circumstance. Maybe it is already being dragged to NYC.

EDIT: Oh, I don't think the sonar came from a TIDO boat, because the srceenshot has a Tagruato background.

I think that the ship in the harbor is actually the survivors that tried to get out before its too late (Maybe Teddy, too?) but MGP followed them up to NYC, where he gets seriously Po'ed and thats where the movie begins.

Question.

If MGP destroyed Chuai on Jan 1st and followed a boat to NYC... wouldnt it take just a LITTLE less then 17 days to get here?

That boat would have to be going like, 2mph.

MGP didn't destroy Chuai on Jan 1. Jan 1 is the date that the TIDOwave people finally went out to the ocean or arrived ther eto see what happened. The EVENT occurred on 12-18-07, which is likely when the station was destroyed as per the sonar contact that day and the fact no one has been able to reach Randy or the others who were likely on the station.

Towed away?

It is possible that the station was just towed away.

Having no debris from a station would be highly unlikely (see unusual item on Scottish beach thread). There'd be thermos flasks, lifejackets, foam whatnots and other various items floating all over the place.

If it did become an underwater station shipping lanes would have to be informed - surely the PMs would be aware of this and place a clue or two about it in game.

I think it was towed away...why I don't know, but it seems the best fit for now.

Ok that makes my post even MORE meaningful, because it further proves my point.

Why would it take the monster a MONTH to get to NYC?

It's probable that MGP:

1. Doesn't travel "as the crow flies"
2. If the creature is organic, it probably doesn't have a "goal" to reach NYC.

MGP is a slowpoke, then. In Godzilla's movies it took him only a few hours or a day or so to get from one point to another, even across a whole ocean.

MGP takes a month to go from a quarter of the way into the atlantic to NYC.

Maybe he took jet blue and got held up for a month at La Guardia, hence his grumpiness.

in regards to a timeline about the fact that it wouldn't take mgp or the survivors this long to get to NYC, well that one dude did say that the events do not take place on January 18th, who is to say that the attack doesn't take place on like, ohh i dont know January 10th or sometime before the 18th. this is something that has been kinda brewing at the back of my head for a while, how awesome would it be for the endgame of this arg to have us (the players) experience the events online a couple of days before the movie comes out. so we go through all of this monster attack and a little bit of the fallout and then get to go and see video footage of the attack. I personally think that it would be a brilliant ending to all of this mess and just be fun all around.

Also the link to the blog is defective.

http://tidowave.com/swf/blog/ is where you go after clicking the intro screen.

It should be http://tidowave.com/blog/

Funny that.
