[OT] Revel in the truth Hello, I'm posting this anonymously because its' been made pretty clear to me that this project is to be kept under a tight lid. I work for Rackspace and about 3 months ago a huge hosting contract came in from Bungie. It consisted of 32 seperate domain names and over 1,293,485,192 bytes of data.
I'm not going to give out sites, in hopes to keep the game fun. But I have seen everything, and you guys are in for a ride! Just you wait until that timer goes down... you'll see
Sincerely,
Anonymous

If this is true (and it does at least SOUND logical - nothing unexpected here, at least, just reconfirming what we suspected), then we're in for a lot of fun.
Many sites with deep content? Lovely.
Bungie + High-budget epic ARG = Nirvana for me

Two words for the original poster:
Prove it.
I can claim I'm the princess of prussia, but that doesn't make it true.

Well, I personally believe it, beacuse it's largely just reiterating what most of us predicted.
If this is a joint project between Bungie and MS, then this could well be the biggest-budget ARG ever made, spanning lots of sites and with lots of content.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.
Anyhow. It's not like this guy is posting, claiming that he's Cortana, and supposedly telling us the 'full story' up-front before the game even begins, like other red-herringmongers are doing.

I have no need to prove anything, and nor do I want to. It's not in my interest for me to ruin the game for the people playing it, but just wanted to confirm it. Trust me, this game is beyond the scope of 'The Beast' by far, you'll have to wait and see... you'll see what I mean in a few days.
Sincerely,

I'd say just wait. Time will tell if this is true, won't it?

See? More believable claims.
'It'll be bigger than The Beast' is both plausible and probable.
Could be false, but all evidence points towards the truth.
I mean, we already know that at the end of the second countdown, whatever-it-is will Metastatize (spread), and hence fun will be had by all.

Let's just say I stand by my post above, IP address (which I checked) notwithstanding.

I'm telling you now this is nonsense. You don't say "over 1,293,485,192 bytes of data" unless you're under sixteen years old and trying to make something up.
The essence is probably true, mind; I'm sure the people in charge have registered some domain names and reserved a lot of bandwidth. Big deal. Even if you worked for the hosting company and knew about it, why bother posting something like that above? What good would it do? "Just so you lot know, I, anonymous, know something". Thanks. Now shh.

This is definitely not true. I contacted a rep at rackspace, trying to get some info a few days ago. They do NOT sell domains, they only sell servers. Then whoever buys the servers can sell whatever domains they want on the servers.....

Here's a way you can prove it without risking or revealing anything:
Post the MD5 sum of a file that will be available after the next update.

Bigger than the Beast? I would have never imagined that!...Duh!
Of course it should be bigger (this time it's even for one of their product). Of course there will be a lot of domains. Of course there will be a huge quantity of data.
One thing I hope for is that they haven't planned everything in the sense that they will still adapt the game and puzzles to our gameplay, just like with the Beast.

That's already showing. Note how fragments of mails that players have sent in are being used to build messages on the site currently?
