[question] why "some thing" instead of "something" "Some Thing Has Found Us" vs. "Something Has Found Us"
Why do you think they chose the first version? Simply to point out that this "Thing" is the monster, or is it more than that?

Or perhaps, why "some thing" and not "some things?"

Well "something" could be a terrorist group, fan club, or transvestite dance group. On the other hand, "some thing " puts special emphasis on an individual and undefineable item. A 'thing' is usually an item we can't put in context easily, can't readily understand. It's also often used for what we find repulsive or disturbing. OK, so maybe that also describes a transvestite dance group.
