[QUESTION] I-Less? Dim and thin I's on rating description. Someone posted this on IMDB. I don't know if they posted this here since it's so hard to find. (What would I use as search terms? lol)
But anyways...
Has anyone noticed that the letter "I" is barely visible in the text in the rating box on the TV commercials. (Where it says "Rated For D sterbing mages" and stuff)
The guy who originally brought that up on IMDB posted a link to YouTube. I thought the "I"s weren't very visible because of YouTube's awful video compression. But I just watched a Cloverfield commercial on 1080p and noticed that the I's are truly barely visible. (They are not only dim, but only a couple pixels wide... Very, very thin.) Now keep in mind that due to legal obligations, they cannot completely remove the letter "I" from the description (that would be modifying the rating) so they did the next best thing and made the I's barely visible.
I think this is a hint.
Anyone else notice this?

No, I just checked. The trailers do not have the ratings on them.

It was on during The Late Show with Jay Leno last night.
And I have a TiVo so I paused it etc.
EDIT: Sorry, I think TiVo caps it at 1080i.
Oh well, small difference.

The faded lettering seems to be a style we've seen in most of the footage, and a letter like I would be readily 'filled in' by our brains based upon it's 'ghost'. This way we can still actually read the info without question, so the legal part is done - but we still get the atmosphere they want.
Only difference between 1080p and 1080i is progressive scan (LCD and computer CRTs) and interlaced scan (some plasma and TV CRTs). Each can actually be converted into the other, although it can be slow and crude. I'm not sure that TiVO records to such a high resolution HD format unless the signal itself is originally HD. Even if it recorded to that high a resolution, if the source material isn't that hi-res it doesn't improve the image.

They want us to pay attention to I. Could that mean the monster has ONE eye? Or many? Or none at all?
Maybe it's blind?

Even though everyone bashed him he found it also.
Edit: I take that back. Apparently "I" can't read time and dates
