[INFO] 27 Dresses goes HEAD TO HEAD with Cloverfield Opening at the same day. 20th Century Fox has announced that they are moving the Katherine Heigl romantic comedy 27 Dresses back a week from January 11th to 1-18-08. So now 27 Dresses is set to go head to head with Cloverfield. I'm guessing that Fox wants to take advantage of the 4-day Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday weekend.

I've never even heard of that movie. Maybe the reviews of it are so bad that they moved it to go head-on with Cloverfield hoping that nobody would see it and it could sink quietly to Lifetime Channel syndication.

If Katherine Heigl can't beat the monster with her awesome hotness, we're all doomed.

lemme guess this is a movie about a 30 something women looking for love, and finds in the (workplace here) then some inconsquential events happent hat dont really move the story along but make for some sappy moments for soccer moms to cry over happen, then the films title finally comes into play as the female lead picks out 27 dresses hating each one as they make her look fat, finally she picks a dress that may or may not have any special meeting, more stuff happens, they marry, the end.
i hav'nt read imdb yet but i bet im close.

27 Dresses is the polar opposite of Cloverfield ; it's a chick flick. I don't think it'll have that much of an impact.
If anything, it will affect Cloverfield , because more men will be dragged in to the chick flick by their significant others because the women don't want to see a monster movie. Heck, I am pretty sure my wife wouldn't be caught dead watching Cloverfield ...
Actually, maybe that's why they kept the name Cloverfield ?
Me: Honey, let's watch a movie.
Her: Which one?
Me: Cloverfield.
Her: Sounds romantic... what's it about?
Me: Uh... A guy trying to find the love of his life in New York.
Her: Bet it has a cute dog, too.
Me: Uh... yeah... a big one.
Her: Aw...

"After serving as a bridesmaid 27 times, a young woman (Heigl) wrestles with the idea of standing by her sister's side as her sibling marries the man she's secretly in love with."
Nope, But the real synopsis sounds just as craptacular as yours did

Yet another gag-worthy made-to-formula chick-flick romantic comedy. Woop-de-freakin' do. It's a *good* move for us, because if nobody goes to see the POS then maybe it'll have a shorter run and stop clogging up precious theater time that could be used for really good destructo-flicks like Cloverfield, etc, etc.

The first 5 minutes should be all cutesy and romantic, and then the movie should turn into an instructional film on how to be a good egg and take it up the shitter.

"If i wanted to see a story about women who no one will love, and spend there day's wasting away, id watch the view"

being honest and i am not lying. this is how it will go.
1.my sister will watch the kids.
2.the wife and i will go see the movie
3.the only reason why she will be willing to go is for the simple fact i have talked her ear off for the past 6 months and she is going to want to be there when the movie sucks total ass.
4.then i will take her to see 27 dresses for a double feature.
5.we will have about an hour to spare to pick up kids and relize we don't get alone time very often.
6. we will pick up the kids.
7.my sister will ask my wife how the movie was and she will say.
8. i saw it
9. it's alive
10. and it lasted about 5 min.
no b.s.
