Well even without Anon's post we already know that there is a massive server effort behind the scenes. For the record ILB went on the main page on Slashdot, not just games.Slashdot. In addition there are dozens of gaming sites linking to it as well. Such load would cripple a wee little business site ILB should have been.

No harm done, so far anyway.

Agreed... plus, the ILB article generated 300+ comments if I remember correctly.

Both games.

In my opinion, it's the fact that they have their act together from a Meta standpoint behind the scenes that is the most compelling argument.

Whoever is behind this has the Meta act together, as evidenced in setting up whatever other sites they may have on different IPs, so as to avoid reverse IP discovery.

It's numerous behind the scenes instances like this that are the most convincing to me, fwiw. I really do think that the Beast is Back.

But even having said that, does it really matter? Smile

Yes, I think it does in a should-I-invest-a-bunch-of-time-in-the-game way. If it's the same team as the Beast it's a pretty good bet it'll be a good game, no?

We have a little evidence that its the Beast2, but... even if it isn't, it sure as hell will be fun, don't ya think?

The article (+ link to ilovebees.com) was visible on the front page, which is generally what causes a nice Slashdotting.

My initial hunch (and it makes sense, at least).

Bungies writers (hence the prevalence of 777's + the Halo 2 trailer link) have teamed up with The Beast's creators (hence the familiar style of game, combined with the honey bottles being sent here), are being funded by Microsoft (same as with The Beast), and are going to make the best damn Alternate Reality Game ever Very Happy

This isn't The Beast 2.
This is (in hollywood-speak) "From the makers of The Beast"

Make sense?

More strange coincidences

Some of these facts are hard to dispute - this is about the moderated Cloudmakers board and Dan Hon (The Original Cloudmaker)

1. Dan Hon started the cloudmakers, from his resume:

04/2001 - current: Online Community Leader, A.I. Web Game
Co-founded a 7,500 strong online community surrounding the Microsoft A.I. web game, created online resources and tools for players and moderator staff, appeared in print and television media coverage.

2. Then after Beast was over, the "HIVE" group @ Microsoft hired him as a contractor (again from his resume):

12/2001 - 05/2002: Independent Contractor, Microsoft
Contracted with the HIVE group at Microsoft to develop specifications and designs for structured online communities in the emerging field of highly interactive viral entertainment.

3. Now if you want to hire him for work, it says...

current status
Last updated April 2004: I am currently in employment and will be unavailable for work for the forseeable future.

See for yourself: http://hire.danhon.com

http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/cloudmakers-moderated/message/1526

This is far too much a coincidence...

Sorry to Poop on your Parade, Guest-ola, but I'm going to have to point out some your faulty logic, though its probably due to either a) you've not been reading any of the forums unrelated to ILoveBees, b) you failed to search the forums, or c) a combo of the above.

Project Syzygy, which I will gladly point out to you in a thread in another section of the Unfiction Forums:

Aside from Halo being made by MS who was behind the AI game, aside from the A.I. missing clue in the guliver's travels text...

here's just a little tidbit, that isn't a clue, but maybe an inadvertant giveaway regarding the authors of this game:

http://www.seanstewart.org/beast/intro/
Quote:
2. The game would--of necessity--be fundamentally cooperative and collective, because of the nature of the internet. His belief, which we all shared, was that if we put a clue in a Turkish newspaper at dawn, it would be under discussion in a high school kids basement in Iowa by dinner time.
Knowing that Effendi is a Turkish "Master" (Master Chief), it's entirely possible that the puppet masters have Turkey on the brain.

Two MS Games employees have confirmed that Elan Lee and Jordan Weisman no longer work for MS. Doesn't mean they aren't still working with MS.
