LBJ do you have the afklampenborg.PFB file?
You need both to install the font. Cheers.

EDIT: Also, how do you do the Cloverfield style (so "stretch" lines come from the top and bottom of the letters?) Thanks.

A simple way of stretching the top and base of each letter, as well as any letters with a middle segment like 'E' is to motion blur from left to right, and then simply delete the excess material.

Here's a quick tutorial, once you've installed the font and typed up what you want to have in the 'Cloverfield' style (for this example, I'm just using the title) you can either Rasterize that text layer, or I'd suggest making a duplicate, and then Rasterize that, so you have this:

Once satisfied, duplicate the Rasterized layer and uncheck the tick box on your first text layer so you can only see one... you then proceed to delete everything that isn't at the top and base of letters like I,O,U,T etc, and delete everything excluding the top, base and middle line of letters like, E, A, G etc, until you have something like this:

Then, motion blur to your heart's content...

If you want to use the version we've seen in the TV Spots then don't forget to use the layer options to give it a subtle colour... Cloverfield appears to go with a vaguish blue-green, so work with that.

I'd add another layer for blurring which is a copy of the text layer without anything deleted, as when looking at THIS COPY OF THE POSTER there's still a hint that the whole letter was blurred even though it isn't as strong as the top/base/middle line bits. From there, it's a case of playing around with the transparencies.

Don't forget to add a more subtle glow in the middle if you want to mimmick the newer version of the logo in the newer of the TV Spots.

(Note, I didn't mention it in the tutorial, but I also added a gradient overlay to mimick how it was done on the posters, using the huge FURIOUS poster for a colour guide)

Enjoy. Smile

It's under the Layer tab in Photoshop's menu, you can't possibly miss it. Failing that, right-click the text layer.

Amusingly, it's only the second piece I've done... something I hope to rectify shortly.

I'm looking into making some t-shirts myself...

A suggestion when creating those font edits:
Make a new image with a transparent background, do the font work, rasterize, then save as a PSD file. You can then readily Ctrl+click the layer to copy so you can paste it into different backgrounds. This will keep the feathering of the text overlay smoother. To help you see the font when doing the blurring and such, create a layer above the transparent background layer and beneath the text and fill it with black. You can delete that layer before you save.

and I believe in CS3 there is a mod-layer tool that allows for motion blurring... Confused

I like converting things to outlines and wasting a lot of time creating gradient maps for the blur effect... YAY Shocked
edit(to keep things vector)

I wonder if I can modify the actual font to already have the blur effects... (onward to TORRENTZ!)
