From this, I see a satellite with the top section blown out. The circular solar panels on the side are probably too deep to reflect sunlight but who knows?

I really hope this doesn't turn into a space monster thing. I would be furious.

I'm seeing this, I don't think its MGP but this is what it resembles:

What's got me is the term "Son-Air". My guess would be the equivalent of a sonar flyover, as if taken from an airplane or helicopter.

Or say.. a geostationary orbit... from a recently launched Tag-Sat they sent up there to track the thing?

Kinda hard to take a precision sonar reading from 100 miles up... Wink

Also kinda hard to transmit sound waves through a vacuum.

If the satellite had anything to do with sonar, the best it could do is communicate with autonomous sonar buoys like what are described here:

I still think it's either a spill of some type, or the debris from the station, nothing more. There is a straight edge. You can't discount that.

So uh, since SONAR is based on sound waves, how is sound supposed to travel from space and back with no air? Even from an aircraft this is a bit tricky of an idea. There's a concept for 'aerial sonar' using a laser to create a sound wave to bounce off the ocean floor, but as far as I can tell this has only been done in experimental laboratory conditions. It doesn't even seem to have been attempted from a satellite. Air to air sonar is something that is done on the back of vehicles every day now, much as bats have done for ages. I think some people are confusing aerial radar with sonar.

That's a fair cop. We're out of my area of expertise here. If they weren't named Sonar 1 and 2 I'd try to make a case for it being something from the satellite.. just seems odd to have put that up there (likely to track grumpy) and not give us that shot of it.

Here the Sonar pics come in another context. Comparison of Google Earth derived deep sea topography with Sonar_2 pic:

My wife glanced at the screen as she walked by and asked, "Are those supposed to be ultrasounds of the monster?" I think she's psychic Smile

Now that we know how the monster looks, does anyone actually see the thing from the images? I know I can't make it out from sonar_1 or 2.
