Uh, there's no 'humor' tag on the article. The style is over the top, but it still makes no sense as there's is no special procedure of any kind to see the trailer. There's not even a special procedure to find or access the sites or their content with the exception of Jamie's videos. This person heard the viral campaign is an ARG type thing and didn't really bother to check to find out that it's Chaotic Fiction but in a pretty non-ARG convention. I see the humor of this thread being that the article's author has no clue what they are talking about.
dude, it's... a.. freaking.. joke.
and it was funny, I don't know what the big deal is. You're just being a geek. Am i right?

Yes, it's a joke, but he's right that Cloverfield isn't the best example of complicated viral marketing. And it does seem almost spiteful, which is a bit unnecessary. The author clearly didn't know anything more about the movie except that there were aspects beyond typical marketing, that could be considered "viral".
amiright?

Speaking from the Non-Arg/viral marketing follower point of view... THIS IS HARD TO THE AVERAGE PERSON...
The average person (me) would google "new JJ Abrams movie 1/18/08" and maybe find the 01/18/08 site.. they would see the pics.. and go "wtf? Pics.. and that chick with that 9 on her shirt is scary, is she possessed? Are they poisoning that dude? Oh it's about a devil/alien thing.. standing between those girls".. No video or info... I'll come back later...
By the time they follow through with that logic, people with experience with these things have run the pics through software, went through the flash and have seen the slusho logo and googled slusho and found that site.. Not to mention how you all found Tagruato, Jamie loves Teddy, flipped the pics over... The average movie goer isn't going to do that. So what dude is saying is, unless you're on some "I Spy" shit, you're gonna be lost (no pun intended) as hell when you go to the theater unless you're ok with "there is a monster, the SOL doesn't have a head"

I don't get where you think I'm steaming mad or something. I'm just slightly annoyed and musing about the stupid attitude of the misinformed author. I don't think their whole article is a joke, seeing as they make real points with much more accurate information about their other items on the list. The rest of the list carries pretty much the same 'gimme candy, don't ruin my game' attitude (instant gratification).
tMan930 gets my point.
Soci speaks of people just like the author that are like impatient children and can't look past Google result #1. Same sort of people that forward all those stupid bogus warning chain letters you get in your email, you know?

umm no.
A. Not an impatient child, but not really into this kinda stuff and wouldn't have known that companies go to this length to promote a movie..
B. I hate chain letters and mail...
C. This is exactly why people have bad things to say about your "e-persona". It's because you always come off as condescending, as though you feel like your shit doesn't stink. Just because there are people in the world that aren't into the same things that you are, and don't have 8765432432 computers set up in their house doesn't mean that they're stupid or beneath you. Sometimes I feel like you need to eat an apple or a bran muffin...

Fruit is expensive.
Buy me an apple. I like apples. Especially Honeycrisp.

I'd take a strawberry-kiwi drink, like an Arizona or V8 Splash.
Sorry Soci, I just don't dumb things down.
Nobody is 'beneath me' just because they choose to be stupid. People can be plenty intelligent and if they just take a moment to really think and learn, stupid isn't an issue. It's retarded that's congenital, and doesn't make someone 'beneath you' because the truly retarded can't do anything about it.
Then there's the retarted...

You can't say "retarded".
I'm offended. I'm going on fox news now to cry about how Euchre made me feel bad.

Special News Report!
Today, somebody on the internets offended somebody else on the internets by calling them retarted. This has sparked mass controversy in congress, making the government consider adding a new amendment to the constitution disallowing calling people retarts.
Now on to the weather. IT GONNA RAIN!

Not too far from the truth Lambo. I fear that's where we're heading.
Remember when you used to be able to say someone was
Fat
Lazy
Retarded
Short
Stinky
Ect...
in real life? Now you can't without making someone "uncomfortable". They're coming after our internetz next.

I put the humor tag on it, Dont know if the guy who wrote it was trying to be funny...I hope he was. I just wanted everyone to see what alot of the press is viewing this marketing on the movie as humorous. Changed it to Press as was a written article...This should be moved into the Press area!!! as it is a written article..can a admin move it?
