with the talk about the fragment from space, i got to thinking, have we ever lost anyone to space? seems to be a huge coverup in that matter
The Russians supposedly lost a crew that attempted to go to Venus. No proof of this statement though so....

A sea monkey?
I think it's a very safe bet to assume that the monster is from the ocean or from space with all this Tagruato and newspaper article stuff going on!

I hear mutant monkey and expect to see an Aye-Aye...well it's a primate anyway. It freaked me out the first time I saw one...but they are kinda cute...in my strange definition of cuteness kinda way...no stranger than a Russian dog lost in space though.

on a side note, I don't know why- but this topic reminds me of this image.
Sorry but that monster on the image you posted doesn't fit to the glimpse we got from Clover aka GP here in the trailer, just compare the legs:

They didn't lose her, officially she died when the cabin overheated and she got stressed, also Sputnik 2 was destroyed on re-entry.

Well I guess MGP could be something like a giant rabid simian chimera based upon the difference in the sonar images:

Yeah I don't think it will be a monkey/chimp. Peter Jackson already took on the big ape not too long ago. It's gotta be reptillian/amphibian. Also just a random thought...I think that each country should have it's own giant monster to represent it and they should all duke it out for world dominance! We have MGP, Japan of course will have ol G, etc. would be like a world wrestling of monsters. Oh and another random note, what if maybe the MGP was made by another country to purposely kick our collective asses?
