I googled a little and found this:
Quote:
By WEALLDIESOMESOONER on Tuesday, March 11, 2003 - 03:04 pm:

THIS IS A WORLD OF LIES. THE LIES HAVE MOMENTUM AND THERE IS NOT ENOUGH INERTIA TO STOP THE MOMENTUM. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH UNSOILED SOULS AND TOO MUCH SOIL. THERE ARE ONLY EMPTY SHELLS, VAGUE WAREHOUSES OF HUMAN FLESH WITHOUT ANY ORIGINAL THOUGHT BUT WITH NICE SOCKS.

Here's where I found it: http://www.goldenvoice.com/discus/messages/2236/2242.html?MondayMarch1720030850am
It's all white-on-white, and most of it is just some random message board, but if you ctrl-f "momentum" it'll take you right there. I searched the nick, but that's the only instance that comes up.

Edit: I found another reference here by searching "vague warehouses". It cites a book called Frank's World.

Since you are heading to Tokyo...
Does this sound like a real location?
Studio 1813
Shibuya, Tokyo 150-0001
JP

It's taken from the whois.
If so, mabey you can check that out as well.

studio 1813 (18=r 13=m)
while it may be studio rm, i googled both and turned up nothing. the only hope is that when i get to shibuya station and take a look around i may find something. but yes shibuya is a real place and the post code (150-001) is for the Jingumae area in tokyo. fairly far from each other.

EDIT 1: has anybody ever heard of steganography or steganalysis?
EDIT2: dont know if this is related but it has been translated

You do not remember

Business of everyday life goes until it dies, continuing,

As for me believing that always it is identical, doubt

I when commenting…With being unconcerned, you say, but is

Sleeping like the time which is attached

It cannot remember

When being born,

When dying,

Life and death is repeated without limited to number but

Individual I when commenting…With you cannot say

To in addition to fullest capacity

The time when you can say is much more limited

Way the space which is visible is almost not remembered,

Somewhere commenting…?

When the site was up previously some of the images were stegged, so far I have only gotten some false positives... but then again i'm using freeware to detect. So it is definitely a possibility.

Here is another possible translation of the poem from a friend of mine

Quote:

Translation of "Oboenai"

Original work Copyright (c) Toda Satoshi satoshiSPLATmx7.tiki.ne.jp
Translation 2008 Hoshino eienshinkenSPLATgmail.com
Original work can be found here: http://ww7.tiki.ne.jp/~satoshi/oboenai.htm

[draft version]
I don't remember
Everyday life continues until death
I always believed, beyond doubt, that they [life and death] were the same
I've always blah-blah-blah-ed like it was nothing, but
Just like in the instant of going into sleep
I could not remember
The time of birth
The time of death
Life and death repeat countless times
The "I" of here cannot blah-blah-blah
And there are many other things
The times for speaking are distantly (greatly) scarce
Where can I go "... and so forth and so on..."?†

[slightly polished version]
I do not remember
Everyday life continues until death
I always believed, beyond doubt, that they were the same
I've always droned on like it was nothing, but
Just like in the instant of going into sleep
I could not remember
When I was born
When I died
Life and death repeat endlessly
I, here, cannot ramble on and on
On top of that, there is more
The times for speaking are scarce beyond reach
Where can I go "... and so on..."?†

†The last line actually is the same 云々・・・ (unnun...) that I translated in context as "blah-blah-blah" in two previous lines in the draft version. Unfortunately, English doesn't afford me a readily similar ability to be ambiguous with a word even when its connotation has only ever-so-slightly changed, and yet still allow me to use the same word. In that light I'll have to ask you to bear with the translation and this note, which is the best way to get most of the original intended message across without greatly changing the original work.

†††Toda Satoshi is the author of 「ウソの国」 (The Country of Lies). You can read that here: http://ww7.tiki.ne.jp/~satoshi/matome.index.htm

†† 云々 (unnun) here is, like its brethren in the text, a multitalented individual. Normally it means a comment,

UPDATE: he refined his work yet again

all the steg programs i found were fairly expensive so i think freeware is the way to go. looking through the old posts i noticed some emails got replies. were there any other emails sent to starspill, soulcellar, rm or any other names that we have discovered? recently?
also comparing the picture of the guy(rM?) with goggles on to the original, the reflection of what looks like binary is not on the original picture. combine that with the numbers in the corner, it may be an email addy.

Awesome Job Methos

I just got around to testing the rest of the images
hg01as.jpg seems to be stegged with jphide

also it seems the if two wrongs don't make a right try three thing could be referring to the jump from 2 number pairs = letters (03 = C) to 3 number pairs (012 = C) like in the starspill directory

New Member, New Info?

I just signed up for this forum in hopes that I might be able to help in the search for this Random Martin, or whatever his name might be. I have been reading through your posts to catch up on any information that has already been posted. I am good at coming up with random off the wall ideas and getting lucky, so hopefully, I can aide you in your search. I found this page, which I haven't seen posted, yet:

http://nyzen.com/japan_exhibition/martin.html

If you go to the page, you see 4 pictures. Clicking on the top 3 enlarges them, for further viewing. I found nothing in the upper 3's ALT attrinutes, however, the bottom left picture seems to be a picture of Random Martin; in the ALT attributes for the picture it just says "missing." The other pictures I am not sure about and I will leave to you guys to look at for now.

I have an idea, if anybody wants to work with it. There seems to be references to lies and numbers abound. "Beware numbers, count on Lies," "numberless infinite." I think a lot of this puzzle will deal with words, but my theory is that the words could be some sort of cryptoquote, or possibly the amount of characters in a word could stand for numbers that could be reverse coded back into an entirely different word. I am going to look into it.

My name isn't Melpomene, but the name is my key. And before I can use it to help you, you must tell me its secret.

The answer lies wherever you came from to get here. I'll know when you've unriddled his words.

I'm sorry if I'm being unkind, but he...

hmmm. Looks as if the actual solve hasn't been found yet.
The note labeled "Tragedy" is were I would start to look.
But there are also the unsolved page titles.

i was floating around the net today and came upon the wiki for the number 9.
and i noticed that Hell is supposedly made up of nine layers -
Avernus, Dis, Minauros, Phlegethos, Stygia, Malbolge, Maladomini, Cania and Nessus.
is it that each picture could be giving away things from different groups of nine? just a theory.

I can't answer your question, because I won't enter Qu13e.

He told me to wait for a sign that someone had understood his message. If they did, they'd understand the secret to my key.

"The answer lies wherever you came from to get here."

That's what he said.

I'll tell you everything I can once I can.

"The answer lies wherever you came from to get here." = a hint???
