New forum structure as per January 6th Hi,
As of today, we changed the Cloverfield forum structure, hopefully making us able to offer you a better resource for discussing the movie, the online campaign and everything else Cloverfield related.
There are now three sections:
General / Updates - Use this for all news, updates, specualtion and discussion of the actual movie or the online campaign. Spoilers are allowed, but take into account that not everyone will have seen the movie from day 1, so use {spoiler} tags whenever possible.
Reference / Press / Questions - Here you'll find all available resources dealing with Cloverfield, and (discussion of) all press mentions. You can also ask general questions here. If your question is meant as speculation, please use the General forum.
Social / OT / Humor - This forum is here in an attempt to unclutter the actual discussions going on. Use it to post anything humorous or miscellaneous about Cloverfield or the community.
NOTE: We moved a lot of the older threads to the appropriate new section, but haven't finished. Please bear with us while we do so over the course of time. All the most recent threads however, are already in place in their new home.

Thank you! One quick question, though. If people were going to purposefully spam the spoilers to everyone, how does this stop it? Also if someone wanted to troll, how does this stop them from posting in the general area.
Still, thank you very much, it was certainly a good idea

Unfortunately, there's not much we can do about spammers/trolls other than moderate as soon as possible. If you ever see anything out of place on the forum, notify a moderator or admin (via PM) and they'll take appropriate action.

Nice work.
Personally I'd have preferred it if you'd made different sections for the movie and online campaign, so that those of us who won't be going to the preview showings won't have anything spoiled but can still follow the online campaign.

Good questions! There's pretty much no way to stop that at all, short of creating hidden or restricted access forums. This change should help keep the discussion more organized but if you're worried about encountering spoilers, I'd suggest the safest course is to avoid the forums altogether until you've seen the movie yourself. Hopefully, people will continue to be respectful and use spoiler tags when they are appropriate (not a guarantee!).

We talked about this too but couldn't come up with a clear-cut way to distinguish between the two subject matters, since most discussions so far are pretty much related to the movie plot and/or backstory (we assume).

Yeah I understand. The only thing I could think of was for you to have a Spoilers section where people could talk about the movie when they see it or something but there's still nothing stopping people posting spoilers in the other threads.
I'll just avoid the site for a couple of weeks, I'm desperate to see it on the big screen before it's spoiled for me

How about adding Trout section?
That way duplicate topics can be moved to to the trout section, since deleting them is not an option. This would help with the thread clutter in all three new forums.

Great Idea. Please make this happen Giskard or SpaceBass.
