[SPEC] August 24th and the Great Allusion

Ok guys, here's why I'm positive that there is SOMETHING big being released on August 24th.
If you go to the shop for ilovebees, you will see that on the t-shirt page there is a comment saying "Buy yours now before the end of the world August 24".
At first glance this just looks like the ramblings of someone gone mad. So does most of the other stuff on this store. HOWEVER. I think there is a major corrolation here. When you combine it with all of the rest of the stuff pointing to the awakening of the Queen and other major things taking place on August 24th, I believe sincerely that there is a huge release. Why? Because all too often, history repeats itself. What history, might you ask?
http://marathon.bungie.org/story/cortana.html#1 << This is a link to the first of the Cortana Letters. At first, pretty archaic and in no way related to the ARG at hand. HOWEVER. At the bottom there is a convo between the Story Guy and a Matt Soells of Bungie. And I quote,
Quote:
Would you (Matt) say that the email had Durandal overtones? Matt replied:

"It certainly has some qualities reminiscent of Durandal, doesn't it? But that doesn't necessarily mean anything."

Nice answer! So I cut to the chase. Wink

So when's the shipping date? Matt replied:

"The End of the World."

Matt's capitals not mine! Note the end of the Cortana email.

Matt also revealed that while we were having this conversation Craig Mullins was visiting the Bungie offices.

Looks like things are afoot.

Emphasis added by me...
The end of the world... August 24th.... history has released a Bungie game before on the "Day of Armageddon"... or maybe... that day is still coming Wink

So what's my point?
Either A: I believe that history is repeating itself with the end of the world release or
B: The End of the World release never took place... it's set for August 24th, 2004 Shocked Very Happy

Yes? No? Maybe?
My first post here so I hope I at least made it interesting for a few seconds...

End of the World release date is, according to someone else who posted on the boards (and someone I would consider well versed in this area), a running joke with Bungie releases. Kind of like ID software and its "When it is Done!" release date for Doom 3 (or any other game they've done lately).

In addition, the ilovebees shop at cafe-press is just setup by someone looking to capitalize off this. I mean, it's great that they are going all for the money, but it should not be seen as associated with the ARG.

To quote www.unfiction.com/glossary

T.I.N.A.G.: "This Is Not A Game." A defining mantra of the Alternate Reality Gaming genre, first put forth embedded in trailers for the movie A.I., which spawned the original ARG, the Beast.

In other words, an ARG is not going to admit that it is a game (at least while it is running). The entire purpose is to make it appear like the ARG is actually really happening to someone actually really out there right now. Granted, we players need to remember that it is a game, but the game itself will ignore that and try to seem as immersive as possible.

This is also why any posts in Gamefaqs or Bungie Forums or the like are almost definitely unrelated to the ARG. Or in any case where you think a site is involved even though the site/account has been around since before the ARG began... With the unfortunate exception to the Beast's red fish puzzle at the end (if you don't recognize/remember this, don't worry about it)

Oh.... ok, well thanks for clarifying then. I guess that explains why it was so long ago...
Bit of a bummer though...
Well I guess you can go ahead and lock it then if this is true...
These are more challenging than I thought heh.
