 		I don't think it matters if its MGP because we don't have enough detail in these videos to infer anything.

 		Let me throw this into the "OMG ITZ THE MONSTERZ!!!" discussion.

The thing that is seen "Swimming" or floating away travels a fair distance away from the platform a bit before the platform sinks in the helicopter
shot.

Now, watch the part from the escape boat. It's shows the platform sinking, and then the debris that gets "ejected" comes from the same place.

Whatever (MGP) sunk the platform is still RIGHT THERE. Unless, of course he started sinking the platform, then swam off, then swam back and started throwing things at the boat.

Now, let the "THERE'S TWO MONSTERZZ< AND ONE OF TH3M SWAM AWAYZ!!" stuff start.

 		I'm with those who say it's just debris floating around out there.
They don't need to show the creature...since there are 3 obvious roars throughout the video (especially at the end) to let us know it took the station down.

I read through all 27 pages of this thread, saw someone ask, but no responses.

Is this guy:

I sharpened his face just a hair

Anyone we "know" or is it just a random extra?

Thing is they made "a point" of showing his face.

Oh crap, it's clearly MGP.

Multiple black spots emerge and than submerge again. There is no single black spot that does not submerge at some point... it has to be MGP's back or another part.

And clearly Tagruato either had a personal army, or had a lot of weapons on station, and clearly the gunmen firing into the sea knew that some creature was attacking them from below the station.

to me it looks like something very large & round-ish under the water moving quickly away from Chuai. At one point it even looks like it sticks above the water for a moment.

ETA: it's been stated on the past pages that the CGI isn't 'fantastic' and some things (like the water right around the station) aren't perfect.
So I guess my question is... why would they spend so much time making a HUGE moving ripple under the water, when a lot of the CGI isn't perfect, unless it meant something?
I'm not saying it's for SURE MGP, but I think it's a damn good possibility.


There is no way that is the boat we see leaving! Absolutely NO way! Do you all see the size of the boat they are on compared to the thing in the water? They are on an inflatable boat next to an oil rig. The inflatable boat would be a spec in the water. Now I am not convinced it is MGP but it could be or it just may be debris.

ohhh!! sorry, I just figured out what you were trying to point out several posts back...about the rescue boat being the black "dot or blob". Well, check the angle of the wreckage as the rescue boat clip shows it and compare to what it should look like from their angle if that is indeed the rescue boat. I think it's oil personally.


Theres no oil at chuai, could be fuel for the generators though.

But thats less likely to be "artistically" added, considering what fishysticks said.

But when you have a low budget and looming deadline, it's not always thought through when you add details.

 		It's not that boat, as they'd see the station leaning towards them, not away from them.

It looks like something rotating/rolling away from the station, It's not oil, but it could be debris or PART of the monster.


Good point about the buoyancy, but the objects would have to be lighter than water for that to work, and they don't look it! Actually it could be the parts which are meant to provide buoyancy to a floating platform, they'd have to support a huge weight, and would shoot up like that if you removed it... hmm.

 		o.k. let's be hypothetical for one minute. lol!! anyway, let's just say that black blob in the water is MGP. taking that info and putting it together with other pieces we've seen of MGP, does anyone have enough evidence to finally determine what MGP is? anyone? i mean we have a shot of his ass moving between 2 buildings in the trailer, a black blob in the news reel, and a countless amounts scratches and destruction from his wake. so, does this blob actually tell us anything? maybe he is a giant shelled sea slug? we more than likely will not see MGP till the movie release. so i don't think focusing on a black blob is going to help, although i do think the news report will unlock some more clues. remember this whole experience is just back story building us up to the movie. so i highly doubt j.j. and co. would ruin it by showing us to much in advance.
