As for the debris flying into the air. Something I was mulling around was the idea that the monster can make some sort of shock wave, possibly thats what the 'roar' is. Both times things have flown into the air, have coincided with roars. Not sure how it would do it...

I like that idea. It's better than "blowholes". Perhaps the monster's roar is a frequency that produces a massive, localized shockwave. We did hear the roar at the beginning of the trailer, and the Tag Tanker was trashed in the harbor.

Then we hear the roar bfore/during the initial giant explosion, and we hear the roar before/during the ejection of the debris from the water.

Personally, Cuthroat Island was a glossy yet flawed movie, let down by the notion it would ever work at all. And tentacles on the head all over are what renny harlin needed in an enemy in his movie: the glossy yet flawed, Cuthroat Island.

I love how these were leaked on free video hosting sites instead of its own domain. People Youtube everything nowadays, and given how much of Cloverfield's promotion is internet based, it heightens the level of realism. I think the next week will be interesting, and we'll get more and more stuff. After Rob's Slusho! post, I knew it was only the calm before the storm.

But I don't think there are any "clues" in these videos per se. I think what Abrams said in Empire should be taken literally: we're given a back story to the events in the film that have very little to do with the actual film. It's very much like The Lost Experience where we were given background info on The Hanso Foundation. Replace Hanso with Tagruato and there you go. Still, I think the idea of releasing the back story of the Monster's origins on the internet is pretty cool. The general audience will go to see a cool looking monster movie and enjoy it immensely, while we were given tons of media over the last few months that's exclusive to us because we're die hards.

All this Chuai footage is interesting, probably the best thing Bad Robot could've given us aside from Rob's recent post. I hope this footage is a DVD bonus feature. I'd love to watch the clips in DVD quality.

So... kudos to Abrams & Co.

i'm guessing here, but i'm pretty sure to thrust up those hunks of metal you need at least a few hundred pounds of thrust, if not 500 pounds, but then you have to add in the weight of the water...

again, just an eye watching guess

I hope that sometime in the future (preferably the near future) there's a solid name given to the monster by Abrams or Bad Robot. Mr. Grumpy Pants has to be the worst, most annoying nickname ever.

hmmmm....

And the liberty head, in some versions at least.
It could just be the 'monster doing something angry' sound, but it's interesting.

I'm with starshiptrooper that we need to keep looking into all the details, including what's blatantly in the video. One thing this clears up is how the military might have reason to be a wee bit on alert.

In the japanese video, when it shows the map, there is one red dot with words next to it, and also a blue, not filled in, circle with words to the left of it. One i would assume is Chuai, but what is the other?

EDIT: I just noticed that this is during the distress call, right after they show the tanker. Can anyone get a translation on this?

I hate it too. I'm only 23 but I just feel too damn old to be saying "Mr. Grumpypants."

Ditto. I'm really leaning toward that distress call being from the tanker (thus the Coast Guard knows something is up and then also the rest of the military soon after) and that the monster is following it to New York.

Are you kidding me? Thats why I brought this question up. The weight per cubic inch (Density) of steel is .2904 lbs. That girder easily was over a ton. 500 lbs of thrust is not going move that anywhere.

in the english video there is a shot of the press release in which they zoom in to show T.I.D.O, im wondering if its possible to enhance that image for a closer look.
