On MGP Throwing things out of the water. Here's a theory from page 76:

As for the debris flying into the air. Something I was mulling around was the idea that the monster can make some sort of shock wave, possibly thats what the 'roar' is. Both times things have flown into the air, have coincided with roars. Not sure how it would do it...

I like that idea. It's better than "blowholes". Perhaps the monster's roar is a frequency that produces a massive, localized shockwave. We did hear the roar at the beginning of the trailer, and the Tag Tanker was trashed in the harbor.

Then we hear the roar bfore/during the initial giant explosion, and we hear the roar before/during the ejection of the debris from the water.

I actually had an almost identical idea for a story of my own a little while back. Sounds plausible...I think it's the idea I like best so far.

I like it and it fits!

well the only mass sufficient enough to propel those thing without superpower is the water itself. please no "Abyss"-like entity....

A lot of people are talking about how much force it would take for MGP to throw and/or blow all that junk out of the water.

Well...I'm gonna go way out there and repeat a theory I posted in the early pages of this thread.

I think that MGP has some unnaturally powerful ablility (like Godzilla' breath).
This ability might be similar to Magneto from X-Men.
Perphaps he can create or project a strong magnetic field that allows him to fling objects without having to physically throw them.
He could use this ability destroy structures (like the Brooklyn Bridge) without having to grab/smash them.

Of course...he could just smash them also.

From a physics POV, I think that's a reasonable theory. MGP must have some form of "super"powers in order to give that much force. But, can we tell, do all the things that get chucked contain metal?

Thank you! My exact point I was trying to make 10 pages back! Yes this is a movie but there is no way anyone could believe just brute force could launch those out of the water.

The monster rises up and shouts:

"MUADIB!!!!"

at stuff, and the stuff then explodes!

Just an example of how sound can have force.

On top of that, we need something to counter Godzilla's fire. I mean, J.J. Abrams wanted to make America's answer to Godzilla right? well, if our monster didn't have anything 'special' like G-Zilla's fire, then the O.G. would have one up on our 'Big Bad.'

I don't like the idea of magnetic field. It seems too far out and would be too supervillain-eque. It takes away from the idea of a tight-ass monster with that of a guy obsessed with taking over the world.

As for the theory of shockwave, it doesn't explain how he can launch many thing at once in a specific direction.

As for blowholes, don't be rediculous.

I say it just has many arms. And if the brute force is out of this world? Well, tell me more about a magnetic field.

Just FYI, based on a height of ~400ft, MGP's weight should be somewhere in the vacinity of 225,000 tons.

You know, ive still never seen the Tagruato symbol on it. Im probaly just blind, or looking in the wrong places.

Going back to my (and other peoples of course) theory that the monster has some sort of special power to propel things in all directions (like a shock wave)..

Ive been thinking of possible ways of doing this: Possibly some sort of high frequency (or high powered) sonic blast. Possibly also something magnetic, repelling metal in various directions, possibly a reason why not everything flies off, and only some things.

Dune. It's a movie. They use electronic devices to amplify certain vocal sounds and it creates a distructive shockwave.

"Muadib" is the name of the hero, his followers shout his name in battle, because it's one of the destructive words.

lol well, people were talking about force and mass and stuff, so I figured I'd throw that out there.

oh, btw... don't you think that you'd have to take in length and width as well to make an accurate weight of the creature?

woah woah, ok so not only does MGP somehow have the ability to roar for something that is "sea" based, but now it has the ability to control metal....I'm sorry but I'm having a hard time conceiving this all. I think we're stretching this big guy out to be a lot more complex than he probably is!

I don't really like the idea of a magnetic field either...I was just putting forth a possible explanation for the flying debris.

Being able to control and direct magentic fields is one of the current theoretical ways to generate anti-gravity.
We don't know where this creature came from...it could be from the center of the earth or some other insanity...if it is in fact from outer space, then all bets are off...it could be capable of anything.
