EMAIL GWG/KLEP: tactics & thoughts

We need a reasoned, thoughtful apprach to dealing with a professional corporation that deals with absolutely private medical records. Let me begin contact with them and let's not send a hundred fishing expeditions that way.

I can easily generate fake Rx pads, fake medical documents and letterheads, and use the right medical terminology to get their trust.

Before we start, let's put together a brief plan. What do we want to know from them?

I already sent the following email to internetSPLATklepsydra.net:
Quote:
I'm considering having one of my close relatives committed using the Baker Act Statute in Florida. Before I do, I'd like to choose a facility to send them to for treatment.

Would it be possible to receive an admissions packet and arrange a tour of one of your facilities? I see you have a facility here in Florida, but that might be a bit too close for comfort. I'll be in New Jersey in the next month and was hoping to arrange a tour during my stay.

You can mail the packet to:
{my address}

Regards,
Bill Shaw

I say someone just pose as a friend of Dale's, and ask how a message can be forwarded to him. Surely they can forward messages to patients.

Unless, that is, the patient or his designee has asked that no information be given out. In that case, they can't even tell you that someone is there, let alone get a message to them.

Our patients usually invoke this only if, say, they're having a baby and are separated from the father because of abuse or threat of harm to mother or child.

Contacting Greatwater General

Just for a try, I attempted a job contact with humanresources but this is one of the inactive emails. However, the infoSPLATgreatwatergeneral.com did appear to go through. Here is my email (using another account I have that would be more realistic for this type of contact):

Pat Holstein, Director Human Resources & Risk.

I'm a registered dietitian who will be moving to New Jersey (my husband
is in the military and his next duty station is Fort Dix).

I would like to inquire about any job openings in your hospital's
Nutrition Department. My Bachelors was from Penn State University in
1990 and I earned my Masters of Science in Nutritional Sciences at San
Diego State University in 1992. My internship was completed in 1993 at
the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center. I have over 10 years experience in
both clinical nutrition and food service administration. I am also a
Certified Diabetes Educator. My full resume and references are
available upon request.

This is actually a fortunate move, since I have some friends from
college who live in the area. I know this sounds like a long shot, but
do you happen to know Diana Sprague (she married another college chum, Dale Sprague) or Bruce Abbott? They aren't listed in the Alumni
Directory and was hoping to get in contact with them before we moved out
there.

Thank you for your response.
Heidi Lynn Brewer, MS RD CDE (fake name, but matched the info on the email account that I used for this).

I used a similiar attempt at Klepsydra via email:

While in pharmacy school at the Oregon Health Sciences University I was able to do my intern training at Klepsydra's Portland Facility. My husband has accepted a job position in the Princeton NJ. We both traveled to the area and plan to move after my graduation in June. It is possible I could move earlier as my requirements have been met. But I would need to work under the license of someone else until graduation. I would like to inquire about a possible position at your Princeton NJ treatment facility. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Other tactics

I emailed as the sister of someone who thinks she can talk to dead people. It was a reference to another email I did to the emporium about some of the local wierdness that was going on and wanting to know what Wes knew from the perspective of someone who truly believes. The sister emailed Klepsydra asking for information and wondering if there were anyone who could talk to her about it. She also wanted to know if it was normal and if they ever got other patients with that sort of ... delusion. I remember reading somewhere that they were having a lot of mental illness in the area, so...

We will see what, if anything, this brings. Smile

As an aside, and I am afraid I don't have the exact mail (lousy Hotmail), but before I read this, I sent a note to internetSPLATklepsydra.net regarding purchasing the piece on their home page "The Bare Tree". It may be lack of experience, but the fact that it is there, plus the unusual design, PLUS the earlier clue in the trees in the slide puzzle, I was hoping to get some information on it, in particular, the artist and whether or not I can contact said artist.

I mentioned kicking in a finder's fee if they help me get in touch with the artist so that I can, err, buy the artwork.

I don't expect a reply, but I will of course let you all know

I sent this earlier this afternoon

Hello,

I would first like to say thank you for taking the time to read this e-mail.
I am a graduate student at the The George Washington University in the department of Biological Sciences who is involved in a collaborative graduate program with the Department of Psychology. I am currently in the process of researching topics for a masters thesis. My current courses include Clinical Neuropsychology I, Experimental Foundations of Psychology: Biological Basis of Behavior, and Animal Behavior. What
I am interested in is to follow a group of individuals throughout their medical assessment and rehabilitation programs. My course work has led me to be more interested in a very particular group of individuals those who were initially displaying “abnormal” human behavior, such as paranoia, depression, feelings of being watched or pursued, and who have recently gone through a mayor psychological trauma, like the loss of
loved ones. I am interested in following their progress through an in-patient rehabilitation program.
Your institute was brought to my attention, especially since it is within driving distance. I would be very interested if there was someone who has had a history, as the one I described previously, recently enter into your mental health in-patient treatment facilities at your New Jersey location. I would be interested in getting diagnosis and treatment reports, and possibly at some point in time to interact with the patients one on one through letters, e-mail, phone, or in person, as to their progress. All correspondence would be completely confidential unless given permission
by the patient. If this is possible please let me know who I may contact and what is required to begin the process.
Thank you very much for your time.

Sincerely,
Dianet Giraldo

I'm thinking if we can give Dale an opportunity to update this site he may have a way to get messages to us.
I'm new to this, so in the words of Rod Serling

Submitted for your approval......(insert twilight zone theme song)

Dear Administrator,

I have recently been made aware of your web site. Just how, will be made clear.

Briefly, by way of introduction, I am a physiatrist in an extended care and rehabilitation facility in the tri-state area.

As you well know, some of the elderly in our community with mental health disorders go untreated until a physical disability, such as an intertrochanteric fracture or cardio-respiratory disease, brings them into the health care system. Here, we rehabilitate them physically, but they require further intervention for their psychiatric disorder or substance abuse problem. I then refer them to facilities, such as your own, for continued treatment.

We have recently acquired computers for patient use, including internet access. These patients, and their family members, research these facilities on the net, and the feedback I receive about your site is not good. Comments from my patients, and their families include: "It's so dark looking" "...static" "depressing", and "scary".

I reassure all those involved of the high quality of treatment and services provided at Klepsydra. Further stating that a web page does not make the facility. Unfortunately, they cannot be persuaded, and choose to go elsewhere.

We all know the competitive nature, which now exists, and marketing strategies currently employed by our industry. This leads me to the purpose of this mail.

My suggestion to you is to update your Website. I suggest that you be innovative. Allow you clients to contribute to the sites, and proudly announce the fact. Perhaps you have some clients with experience in these matters. Use the opportunity to incorporate this activity into their therapy regime and publicize it.

I will continue to recommend Klepsydra to my patients who must relocate to your area in order to be closer to relatives.

I realize the unusual nature of this letter. However, for the care of my patients, I am compelled to inform you of this problem.

Sincerely,
I.Zaharof, Jr MD

cool idea! definitely a different approach than what we've seen.

as for subliminal messages, there's always the 'spell it out on the first word of every paragraph' trick. It's an oldie but goodie.

email to Klepsydra

Well, I sent off the above email, my first, with a few tweeks. I added this..

We have recently acquired computers for patient use, including internet access. These patients, and their family members, research these facilities on the net.
The feedback I receive about your site is not good.
Comments from my patients, and their families include:
It's depressing", "...scary ", "prosaic", "really awful", gloomy", "upsetting"' "eerie".

Incidentally, there is a Dr. Zaharoff, who is a physiatrist with a presence on the web. I just wanted my email addy to make sense. Not that I would be impersonating her. Hey I could be a distant cousin. Wink
