As was mentioned, a news report says those bursts are infact gunfire.

And it looks like gunfire to me Cool

News Reports said that there were explosives in the Twin Towers, now look at where that's got us. A whole new kind of crazy. It's called "There's not enough info so lets say what we think it is" Same thing about the English clip saying there's oil in the ocean while Chuai doesn't have oil.

Say what you will, but there's multiple bursts coming from the same area in multiple places.
Tension cords would break in one snap, not multiple times at the same spot.

this is going to become "I SAWZ A TENTACLEZZ!!!111"

you see what you see, and I see what I see.
Either way, we know MGP is under there. We know there were armed persons on the station.
Assume what you will from that.

Unless they all have tanks on the station that can produce bursts about 3 stories in length, then I seriously doubt it is gunfire. But, believe what you will. Just note that the tension cords on my images are placed very close together. VERY close together.

well, this is a movie where an ~400ft monster swims up and destroys Manhattan.. while possibly releasing mini-monsters that cause people to explode...
I think suspension of belief is required.

and people are commenting on how 'poor' the CGI is (while I think it's pretty damn good for a viral campaign), I don't see them spending time on tension cords and then saying it's gunfire.
The whole "this is oil" was pointed out to us because we KNOW Chuai does not have oil- so we know it has to be something else.
I think they clearly stated that it's gunfire shooting into the water to clue us in that there is something under the station that needs to be defended against... not because it's NOT gunfire and there's nothing there but some snapping tension cords. That just doesn't make any sense, sorry.

I suppose it could be lots of ropes, and the news reports aren't too trustworthy, but I'm sticking to gunfire.

The lightbulbs dotted around the station look much bigger than they really are also.

Watching the English news report, watch 00:43. Sure enough, it looks as if they are launching a missile into the water. Unfortunately, the reporter mistakens the dark form underneath the station for an "oil spill". If only they knew...

I understand if Mr. Grumpypants attacks a station that has honed in on its territory. But why does it end up at NYC?

i think it's entirely possible, if not probable that it is gunfire. you've got the gun-wielding ninjas with laser sights. you've got a gigantic monster. put those together and gunfire is almost guaranteed.
