9/26 Fast Nationals ratings Push received a horrible 3.1 rating with a 5 share. That placed ABC fifth for the hour behind even Fox and UPN (Wrestling). The final ratings (come out next week) will be even lower.
Spec: Push will be cancelled before episode 5 airs. The only hope for the show is to put it on ABC family where rating numbers like that are justified.

This game has no bearing on ABC's continuance of the television show. ABC has the right to cancel the show at any time if they choose to do so. The only thing they must follow through with is the awarding of the Grand Prize. The rules of the game, found here , include a section dealing with the eventuality that the show is cancelled.
Excerpt from the official rules of the game:
8. PROGRAM CANCELLATION:
In the event the Program is cancelled prior to the conclusion of the Final Episode and the disclosure of the Final Clue, Producer may, at its sole option, reconstitute the Game in any manner Producer deems appropriate. In the event Producer elects to reconstitute the Game, Producer will determine in its sole discretion what the rules shall be for such reconstituted game including, without limitation, the rules concerning eligibility, deadlines, clue dissemination (if applicable) and means of selection of the Grand Prize Winner (including, without limitation, and if Producer so elects, a random drawing). Any such reconstituted Game may or may not build upon previously disclosed clues and/or information learned from the Program. Any revised rules shall be posted at abc.com and/or otherwise disseminated.

Regarding the show being cancelled, keep in mind that in early interviews, the network acknowledged that they put the show in a difficult time slot. I believe the term they used was "black hole of death." They acknowledged that they didn't excpect stellar ratings, expecially given the competition.
Now, keep in mind that it is advertising that drives these shows, and as long as they have their ad revenue, the show stays. Also keep in mind that toyota and Sprint are sleeping with the enemy, per se, and probably can't back out of their ad contracts, considering the ties to the show.
That said, I don't think Push is going anywhere.

This is very true and is a point which we have ignored until now. Rarely does a new series have such extensive sponser tie-in and commitment. This could mean that the usual formulas regarding nielson vs. series_life have no relevence in this case. I was disappointed when I first heard the ratings, but now I am hopefully optimistic.

Good point. Most people assume that a show has to be popular to stay on the air. No, it just has to keep its sponsors.

From the way it reads they dont even have to award anything.
basically they are just telling you that if abc cancels the game the Producers have the option of keeping the game going IF THEY WANT. They dont have too. If they do decide to continue the game from the looks of it they can change the whole thing around, including rules, deadlines, and even whether the clues we are gather now will be used.

alas http://www.thefutoncritic.com/cgi/gofuton.cgi?action=thisdayintv&id=20020927
This from The Futon Critic: Meanwhile amongst the other networks, "Push, Nevada" is well on its way to being the first series of the 2002-2003 season to get the axe. "Push's" 3.4/5 overnight score was below every airing in its time slot during the 2001-2002 season. I'd be stunned if the show lasts beyond next week.
*sigh* He's rarely wrong.

Hmm, if Enoch doesn't give us an update soon, that might be why.
Anybody know of any other games out there?

There's TimeHunt, which isn't quite an ARG but is incredible. It's live now, www.timehunt.com. If there's interest, I'm sure SpaceBass would open a forum for it. I've been peeking around as has DonkeyOatey.
Coming up is Second State. www.search4e.org. There's a subscription to it, though from what I understand you can follow along on the websites and such for free. You just won't have quite as immersive of an experience because you won't have contact.
Alias also has a web componant, though I don't know as much about it. There's a forum in the Diversions category for it.
There are a couple other things listed in the Diversions category including Phiber Link and Tron 2.0.
cd.org reported :K: just the other day. The trailhead for it is http://uncaptheride.com
I'm still not jumping on the "push is going to get cancelled" train just yet. I think that they'll hold out for a bit longer and, hopefully, try a different timeslot before cutting it all together.

heaven knows they've got plenty of potential time slots available... "That was Then" was dead on arrival. MDs is on life support. Pretty much every new show on ABC is swirling the bowl.

Even this is a mystery!
From the Los Angeles Times:
"Although ABC has some room for optimism regarding '8 simple rules' and the Damon Wayans sitcom, 'My Wife and Kids,' ... the network already has some serious problems. The interactive drama 'Push, Nevada' may top that list, plummeting 45 percent from the previous week against CBS and NBC's Thursday heavyweights.
ABC officials have said the program will run at least one more time, but haven't committed beyond that."

'Push, Nevada' gets temporary reprieve
By Verne Gay Newsday
October 2, 2002
http://www.myinky.com/ecp/entertainment/article/0,1626,ECP_738_1452597,00.html
notable quotes from the article:
Quote:
The best new show no one's watching - ABC's "Push, Nevada" - earned a one-week reprieve yesterday before the network decides what to do with the heavily promoted, lightly viewed series produced by Ben Affleck.
The network confirmed that a few options besides outright cancellation are under consideration. One of those includes "repurposing" - or re-airing - the show on sister cable channel ABC Family, or perhaps moving the show to cable.
At least it's something. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I wonder what happens if they move it to ABC-FAM channel. First of all, not every household in the US gets cable or this channel in particular, in comparison to a broadcast network. So right there they have a smaller audience to reach. Then, do they have to start the show from the beginning, to allow for ABC-FAM viewers to catch up with the previous episodes? I would hope they would do a "marathon" block on one night instead of shifting the story's timeline -- think of all the dates already set in the fax and the Push Times.
