I will keep this site updated as I learn more. Thank you for all of those sticking with us. I hope they don't delete this.
This message is intended for those inquiring about ilovebees. I've received a flood of emails asking about the references to bees throughout the website, and the link to "subvert cap ilovebees" in the footer.
Background--Who We Are:
CAPitALLism is an organization dedicated to promote dynamic, self-regulating change. The traditional class-like notion of beehive-- with its queens, soldiers, and drones--is not reality. Bees are an emergent grounds up network, not a rigid class society. For a good introduction to emergence theory, please read "Emergence: The Connected Lives of Ants, Brains, Cities, and Software" by Steven Johnson. The CAPitALLism Manifesto, in part, is an implementation of such themes. We seek to cap all instances of power abuse, and return to self-organization.
The Hacking:
Thanksgiving 2003 to Saturday, July 17th 2004. Since our manifesto and CAP program releases, others have only supported us, not harmed.
Saturday, July 17th, 5:00 AM Tokyo time. I received a strange email, listed below.
*************************
disconnect dis connect. unrelated u.n. related.
spread cap
subvert queen. her majesty. get Honey from Hive.
ancients call nectar of the gods
of the angels
*************************
Sunday July 18 12:15 AM Tokyo time. I check my email for the first time and notice the above message. Thinking it was a virus I deleted it. The sender's name and domain was a series of numbers that I unfortunately cannot remember (similar to the old CompuServe emails of yesteryear).
Monday July 19th to present. Over a hundred people email me. People ask "why is there a link at the bottom of your site" or "why does the Manifesto say 'the sting that started all the buzz.'" Also during this time, I notice that "hackers" are inserting various messages through the website.
Some of you seem to be helpful detectives. I really appreciate your kind service.
I've learned ilovebees is an "Alternate Reality Gaming" environment. Well, this isn't a game to me. It's been giving me a lot of headaches. I have an uneasy feeling in my stomach... that something big is going to happen soon. As our Declaration of Independence indicates, we wish to be free from this.
I hope this helps, but please email contact with any clues or information.

This just smacks of a website trying to take advantage of the game to generate more traffic to it's site.. no evidence that it is actually related to the game, IMO.

This proves to me that this is a fake advertising stunt done by capitALLism. In-game characters never mention ARGs... and MS is obviously not hacking his site.

suppose this is the update.
the messages on i love bees talk about wanted to be found but needing to hide. are we expecting all the sites to be 'hacked' in the same fashion. these more subtle messages on CAPitALLism may be those message that are 'hidden' but obvious.
or im just retarted and i dont know

Well, a couple of things tell me this might be in game.
1) Capital is mis-spelled throughout the whole site. as in CAPitALL. Is someone telling us to use All Caps for something?
2) There are references to slave labor, and refering to society as a tired system, much like bees, having their Queen, workers and drones.
3) Perhaps the contact refers to ARGs because of Dana's blog, with so many people claiming it's all just a game.
Things that tell me this may not be in game:
1) Google has has a backtrail of this site.
I think we should just keel an eye on it, just in case.

You keep an eye on it. The rest of us who know this is just an annoying hoax really don't want to be spending our time reading about this site again and again.
If you're not getting it from ILB or the ILB Blog...it is NOT in-game.
End of story.
*edited because for some reason I have a tendancy to leave out little words when I post.

Well, accoring to http://www.whois.sc/capitallism.org it's hosted w/ godaddy, on an ip which hosts 5488 websites in total....
Seems to a (very) personal site to me, and certainly not in the game, as a shared server would NEVER be capable to handle the load.

Well I guess it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on it, even though all signs point to a non-in-game site at the moment.
