Visiting Cambridge Mental Hospital I think that we ought to (if possible) visit the modern ruin of Cambridge Mental Hospital. I am an urban explorer but it's a bit cumbersome for me to travel to the US (I am located Sweden). However, I am running a forum for urban explorers, who gladly will help you with information on how to explore safely, what to pack, how to deactivate alarms, avoid asbetosis, open a manhole from beneath or travel through sewers without getting infected by e-coli bacteria.
PM me or visit http://interactingarts.org/ and visit the forums.

Man, if I were nearby, it'd be fun.

I would go right now if it were a little closer (about 7 1/2 hours drive from me). I wonder what it would take to convince my hubbie to make a weekend road trip? Anyway, I don't know if I am as brave as I was in my college years, when I did that kind of exploring for the sake of "art". I probably could've used some of your tips then.

I think I mentioned this earlier, but apparently I live about 5 minutes away from the site for this hospital. I'm only just realizing this because I've only lived here a year and don't know tons about the city. I was planning a trip over there already, but I left for a mini-vacation on Saturday and just got back. I'm planning to stop by there tomorrow after work. I'll bring the camera and see what I find...

Good luck, dishboy!
Be on the lookout for the sites in the pictures that we've got already. ESP. the headstone, the hole with the rope, and the doors.

And if you keep returning to the same place over and over again... start yelling

and if there is a girl in your group, tell her not to wear high heels and not to trip and fall when something starts chasing you.

Leave you car running, cause it's not gonna start when you're running!

Suggested equipment I recommend that you also bring:
- An agile backpack
- Two sets of flashlights - which are not handheld, but possible to fasten on your forehead or on your clothes (Silent Hill-style!)
- Extra batteries
- First aid equipment
- Cell phones
- Gloves
- Though, dark clothes and comfortable shoes
- Soft kneepads
- Notepad and pen (for leaving messages)
- Water (to drink and to clean hands and wound with)
- Plastic bags and tape (to put around your feet if you need to go over deep water)
- Camera with fully charged flash (and a DV-cam?)
- A friend with the same set of equipment
Also tell someone where you are going and when you are going to be back. Just in case.

Perhaps two or three times a month. Sometimes more often, sometimes less often. If you are interested in urban exploration and happen to live in Sweden there's a big feature on it (that I've written) in the Situation Stockholm magazine. The magazine is similar to The Big Issue in England.

Probably not the best game to mention to someone who is going into a dark, deserted mental hospital. Watch out for bloody, faceless nurses dishboy!
