Whatever number we're up to-ed.
I do not want the movie to be spoiled for me. There's only 6 days until it's released in NZ, and I don't want to be f***ed over by people who got into preview screenings.

I've already read the spoilers and I know I'm not a mod, but if you need help with masking spoilers I can help.

Well I checked...
If you find a spoiler that's NOT in the thread titled or tagged as [SPOILER] it is acceptable practice to edit it to place the spoiler within the tags. I am of such a discipline I need not necessarily read all of it - IF you give me a first and last word, paragraph number in sequence (1st, 2nd, etc. - even a single line with a break then a new one would be a paragraph), I can manage to select and spoiler the portion in question. The tricky part for some will be defining what truly is a spoiler. Ask yourself a few key questions:
Does it disclose something we knew nothing about from the viral campaign or any speculation readily implied by it ? Confirmations of what has been hinted at or implied doesn't tell us something we didn't at least believe possible, e.g.: "the monster that attacked Chuai attacks New York!" doesn't hold any surprises, but describing the type and appearance of the monster does.
Would it inform us of key character events that did not happen as part of the viral campaign and are important to the plot of the movie? We know from the viral campaign that people get wounded, so saying "like when Beth gets hurt" is not a spoiler when we've seen publicity shots of her bleeding with things sticking out of her. Describing the circumstances of how she got hurt would be a spoiler however.
Is the information going to disrupt the flow of the movie for the viewer? This is probably the most abstract thing to understand, but ask yourself "If I knew this would it kill a surprise and anticipation or blunt the climax?".
Hopefully that helps you to understand how to separate a real spoiler from simply intimate knowledge of the film as many of us that haven't yet seen it already have. I think I have a really good grasp of the sequence of events of a great deal of the film just from the trailers and ads, many of us probably do. I've already read information that some might consider spoilers but didn't tell me something I wouldn't already expect or feel was possible. Use that set of questions when you post after you've seen the film as well, so you can help prevent spoiling it for others.
So, if you spot a spoiler feel free to contact a mod. We'll do what's appropriate to help keep the mystery - and hence much of the fun - for other enthusiasts.
Oh, and remember when quoting a post to make sure you keep the spoiler info behind spoiler tags.

It's probably safe to say any thread involving the following words probably is spoiler laced or soon will be.
Screening/Review
Production Notes
Monster Appearance/Behavior
The movie has been released to pre-screening (for critics and advance buzz). This is a GOOD thing, since they're confident enough to let the critics see the movie ahead of time and write a review. If they hadn't done this, it would have sent a red flag to the critics.
However, that means that this and every other Cloverfield forum will now be inundated with legitimate spoilers. Not everyone is going to be versed enough in board etiquette to use the tags or masking, and there will be multiple threads where the topic IS the spoiler (like Kirk Dies or She's really a guy...not really spoilers, but you get the point).
If you're definitely spoiler adverse, now is the time to go offline. Otherwise you WILL read something you don't want to. I trust Euchre and the rest to do a great job of catching what they can, but things will slip by.
Since I never criticize without offering a solution, might I recommend yet another subboard for spoiler free discussion? That way those who want to keep online can do so and have a place to go where they can avoid the Kirk Dies type posts.

Honestly, guys
I think we should all agree to see the movie AS SOON AS POSSIBLE
mainly because I dont think this game will end anytime soon (hopefully keep going at least until the DVD comes out), and the movie may be the biggest contribution to the ARG
the movie should be able to be discussed openly after some moment...
Spoilers will soon become References, and we must accept that...

I think that's a given, but not everyone can see an advanced screening, or even see the midnight premieres.

Yeah, like about January 19th or so at the earliest, or later even if you want to be fair to people not in the US where the film is not yet released.

Again, after a certain time where anyone can readily see the film, this will be a more acceptable practice.
Oh, and btw Voldemort kills Snape.
