[OT]Diary of the Dead I was wondering if film makers would start biting off the Cloverfield "Handycam" style and lo and behold here we. This movie actually looks kind of good though.

Well, it definitely looks better than Night of the Living Dead: Grave Rave.
I'm a big fan of zombie movies, but most of the whole Night of the Living Dead franchise have sucked.
I think it's a little weird how there's 4 movies coming out featured with all shaky cam style (although Monster is a ripoff). I doubt that just simoltaniously (that's spelled wrong) three filmmakers had the same idea.
1. Cloverfield
2. that mexican movie called Rec or something like that
3. Diary of the Dead

don't forget the zombie diaries, which is a UK flic that came out in festivals early last year.
just because it's handy cam doesn't mean they ripped off cloverfield all of these movies that are in this thread were filmed and already out in film festivals out by early fall of last year, maybe with the exception of rec.
but i know the diary and zombie diaries were out round then.
edit: release dates
Diary Of The Dead :September 8, 2007 (Toronto International Film Festival)
The Zombie Diarie s:August 27, 2006 (this film is not entirely shot with handy cam from what i remember reading about but it does involve some scenes)
[REC] November 23, 2007 (Italy, Spain)

you got it wrong, there was only one (well minus a 3d and a remake) night of the living dead, and many shitty return of the living deads, which had nothing to do with romero's work, except for the zombies and everything

Doesn't this thread belong in the OT forum? Is there a mod who can throw this over there?

Yeah, Return of the Living dead was never Romero. He did the "Of the Dead" movies plus Night of the Living Dead..
This movie seems pretty good. Not betetr than Cloverfield as major movies though

i think he's refering to the night of the living dead series,
which would include, NOTLD. Dawn Of The Dead (original of course), Day Of The Dead, and Land of the Dead.
The Of the Dead your speaking of usually deals with the return of the living dead series, written by John Russo, who was one of the writers that worked with romero on NOTLD.

it looks great!
but it also looks like they took some ideas from the cloverfield trailer for there trailer
i thought the new dawn of the dead was better than the original...
but the original was still great
