Re: monster in the clouds

So to you....did its face look too humanoidish? Or did it still possess a monster like face?

I feel bad saying this, but hard to tell. There were times I was thinking, is that some abomination of a mutated human? Maybe CEO Ganu mixed with sea creatures, ala The Fly? But then I saw it other times and it looked pretty darn beastial, with the scariness of the ogre fish or a snapping turtle styled face. You'll have to experience it, and I can't wait to see the art work for the monster once the movie runs its course.

Alright, so is its head kind of small compared to the size of its arms and body?

Re: Monster in trailer, now that I know what I'm looking at.

There's not much, the editors were slick as we know, but check out this photo from the apple trailer. It's when the jets are shooting missiles at it, and although he's fuzzy in the sequence, you should clearly be able to see his bulk, and general size in this image.

Awesome! I had that down as his foot or something, but I knew it wasn't just smoke from the way it moved. You can see a burning wound move with part of his body.

more drawings

Good job trying to map out his body in those shots. Youre lines are a little too tight on him. He has more bulk but it's hidden by the blur, fire, etc., but you so much closer than we've been before. To think we had that trailer for months now.

I have two more drawings that I hope are better. I have to run to buy a b'day present, but when I get back I'll post them up in place of the pics at the kidreviewer.com review. Couple hours. I've shared them with two others and they think I'm getting closer. They really do make it hard to get a full sense of him. You will get to see all of him in his glory, but by then your heart's racing and some real bad stuff is happenin. Look at it this way, if you were in the characters shoes, getting a real good closeup view ain't the best thing in the world. Smile

Drawings upgraded as promised

It still doesn't make me a graphic artist for sure, but I've posted better drawings than the ones I originally did about 4am after the screening.

You can see large versions by clicking on them at:
http://www.kidreviewer.com/2008/01/cloverfield-2008.html

I still have the arms wrong, and need to reposition them, and make the hands/fingers longer. And I want to add a couple tusk-like teeth from the lower jaw. I'm also concerned about the tail, as I can't remember it anymore. It may have been a more squid-like tentacle, but can't picture it in my mind now.

Bringing together mamart90's outline, your drawings and my recollection; I tried to provide some more detailed outlines (this is slightly different than KR's prior trailer cutout). In particular, imagine MGP coming towards the camera walking on all limbs.

As you can see from these outlines, the head extends forward towards the viewer and front-right limb is raised (I'm not suggesting any King Kong similarities, but an ape on all fours, attacking with raised right arm could help you see what I'm suggesting).

getting closer?

Could be, but his legs would be in midair there, his feet should go down into the fire.
