Note to Admin: Copyright shenanigans Post on slashfilm.com attributed to Unfiction There are pics on slashfilm.com supposedly depicting the creatures from Cloverfield. One was submitted as so-called fan art, but it was directly lifted from a Neville Page DVD site. http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/dvds/npa01.html
If someone is purporting their stuff as original using the image at the lower right of this site, it's sorta not legal. I have notified the administrator of that site, slashfilm, and the producers site for the DVD .

No one said that that image was their own, they said that it was supposedly the small monsters.

Holy shit, Slushomakesyouhappy's thread is famous!
I pointed out in the first page of that thread that the spider was by Neville Page. It was not submitted as fanart anywhere as far as I can see. ( Apart from Slashfilm, obviously)

Haha, he finally pulled out a decent thread and it gets accused of having illegal stuff in it. It's like the ultimate trout.

Not sure which thread is being spoken of, probably avoiding it to not be exposed to spoilers. Also not sure what Slashfilm article is being spoken of. It'd be nice if someone choosing to rattle a supposed legal saber would make solid reference to the things in question.
Something I'd like to note about copyright infringements.
The basic way a DMCA notice works is that the original copyright holders themselves must notify the offender or offender's host of the infringement. If the offender and the host are one and the same, they basically get told to remove the material in question and at least theoretically could be liable for damages. When the offender is placing the content on a host's site, the host is asked to remove the content and remove the user's access. Only if the host fails to to remove content and repeat offenders do they risk liability themselves. That's the sort of thing you see happening on YouTube fairly often anymore. The commentary of this thread's OP is not a proper DMCA, and probably at worst would get the forum member banned and the image(s) in question removed. Fair Use and attribution also play roles, but the person placing the content needs to do that, a different party can't do it for them.
I'm not sure of the exact intent of the OP here, but it could serve as a good reminder to give credit where credit is due. In most cases here when that's been possible it's been done, and I'm glad people are doing it. We certainly have seen people's work being passed off as 'the monster' and have repeatedly found the real source of the images and helped to clarify who the rightful owner and creator is. I don't think we should be made to feel as if we are criminal as a whole. There may be those here passing off other's work as their own, but let that burden of shame lie with them alone.

Wow, I posted the first link to Neville's stuff last Thursday completely as a joke based on new info that starhsiptrooper found:

Nope, didn't design the creatures, that was done by Neville Page in LA. Would have loved to though. I oversaw the transfer from concept to actual movie image, which was fun too. Go see it!
Ah, so then this is the monster:
Neville Monster
and this is the little monster:
Neville Little Monster
j/k
I assumed that anything found that far out in the open was completely unrelated. Is someone now saying that the small monster pic is on the money? I haven't read the other thread as I don't want to see the spoilers there.

Yeah someone said it was, I'm not sure if everyone agrees though.
Very minor spoiler, I'll leave it up to your imagination.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It sounds like they are difficult to identify.

Good - I'd hate to think I accidentally spoiled something. I also hope I didn't start a rash of new monster claims like starshiptrooper inadvertently did with that same thread.

Just to make it even more humorous, he has been banned. I have no idea if it was for this or not but it was only a matter of time and no surprise to anyone I am sure. The poor guy, he wanted so bad to find something relevant almost as much as he wanted the monster to be Zilla.
