I like Aphynos, Mr grumpypants, while good, is more of an in-joke here at uf than anything else. Aphynos is a name that everyone can get behind without shaking their head in amusement/shame.

agreed 100%. While MGP is funny, it would almost embarrass me as not only a future fan of the movie, but also as someone who followed this whole Viral Marketing Campaign if that's what the monster was referred to as.

anyone else notice the similarity between the above 'blind fish' and this movie on youtube where someone thought they found what the monster looked like in the movie poster:

I want Greyshot.
Personally, if they keep it at Cloverfield, it will no longer be about the monster, but rather the entire movie itself; the way it was filmed, the secrecy, the monster- If they keep it Cloverfield, then any sequel they shoot will be shot in the same manner.

though Mr. Grumpy Pants just makes me smile every time I read and think about it, my only problem with Aphynos is.....it just doesn't sound like an American Monster's name. If Abrams hopes to make this big boy an american icon, he needs to think of a better name than "Aphynos". Sounds greek to me!
