The Case...

Would include military evidence regarding all events from the formation of the monster to its decimation of the city. The military would be very central into the gathering of evidence as this is obviously a Case against Home Land Security.

Exactly Crizzy!

The last I heard, military investigations were pretty much akin to court cases...just with fancier uniforms.

Not to mention the fact that the military would HAVE to be involved in any investigation. They Nuked a major U.S. city.

So, if it's not a court case, then call it a Congressional Hearing. Doesn't matter WHAT it's for, really, I just think it's a case file, and after the movie, we may get the whole thing.

Yes I've heard of a few good men hopefully Cloverfield will actually be good unlike that film. A few good men is a legal case, military but still legal.
The use of the term "Case" in a legal sense has an entirely different meaning from it's use in a military investigation. A military investigation is to determine cause, not assign blame or fault. The evidence gathered in the case designated "Cloverfield" could certainly later be used in a legal case but it's not the same thing. It is similar in usage as to the CIA or FBI, their "Cases" are never what they are known as when and if legal proceedings are brought. It's just a naming for convenience and identification.

No argument Rocksmars. That's what I said in the beginning. The whole 01-18-08 website could be the file on "Case Designate: Cloverfield", meaning the monster and attack.

The court stuff is just what I was speculating what the file could be used for.

The idea of getting a whole case file later is cool, I would read it.
But I'm not holding out a lot of hope. Other than the newcasts and the Slusho! site, which is Abrams pet I think, the whole ARE has been rather lazily handled in my opinion. Besides the date problems there are a number of things done poorly I think. The Jamie vids come to mind but also the way the MySpace pages were done. If they cared even remotely about them they could have took the time to add posts to flesh them out, like holiday greetings to the other people. The person updating it would have tried to add a bit of reality too by letting time pass between the posts instead of logging into one person each after the other like it was a chore to be done before leaving work.

Yeah I know it's just marketing stop your bitchin Rock but this could have been done better and it wouldn't have cost them a dime more.

Exactly, anything about legalities in there?

You know it would take years for the nuclear fallout to wear off? They are still keeping Chernobyl a restricted zone, and that's a way longer period than some half a year as your theory states.

That is, of course, if we assume that there really was a nuclear strike on the city. If that was a different sort of a weapon, then there would probably not be a need to wait at all before recovering the evidence. Well, just for the dust to cease.

Then again. If you state that the timestamps on the pictures show the time these pictures were found, then why is the actual time different? If you find the camera, you find them all at once. So there has to be one single timestamp on them all. Instead, the time of 12:36AM and such is a lot likely to be the time the party took place, not the time you would be looking for evidence..

Then again, if we assume somebody was timestamping the images as they were processed for the lawsuit file (and not found with the camera), why wouldn't they timestamp the other pictures as well? Why are the Rob's party pics the only pics stamped? No sense.

But there can be sense in a fact a handheld camera puts its own stamps on the pictures. It's just that the date does not match. After all the mindtwisting, I'm tending to think it's some sort of a flaw (I know it sounds stupid, but argh! I have no idea!).

One more thing. There was a post here saying that the pictures may have already been printed before the event, that's why there are messages on their back sides. Well, you know, we can assume the camera stayed alive somehow during a military strike, and so the video is intact. But the printed pictures? Printed on paper? During a bombarding of the city? I don't think so.

Consdering that the actors playing Marlena and Rob have both said that Marlena doesn't know the other characters, the myspace pages are either OOG, or the movie is.

Or, it's not a game, and the marketing people doing the myspace pages really didn't know what was going on.

Like starshiptrooper said, the idea of an actual court case is just speculation.
What we're actually saying falls under the category of 2.

And, the MySpace pages are weird. That's all I gotta say about that, lol.

Hmm... I guess you're right. I guess people will have to imagine the dates are in May now... and that Rob is leaving in the middles of may instead of January.

Oh well. Which seems more professional- the Myspaces or the Movie itself??

(Rhetorical Question)

They may used some very limited tactical nukes in the film off shore or at shore but they would never nuke Manhattan, the monster could raze the joint and they would let him if the only thing that would stop him is full nuke.

There's billions in precious medals in Manhattan (much of it not ours), they aren't going to make them worthless no matter how many people die.
Nuking Manhattan would render the island uninhabitable for many, many years. You can't rebuild in a radiation zone. They would fight him with conventional weapons until he left the island then nuke him at seas of on the mainland.

Could have been a tactical nuke, not so big, less radiation.

Other pics came from another source, not pulled from a video. No timestamp neede

Writing on the back is for the marketing campaign only, won't be there when the whole file is released.

I'm just trying to make the dates match. I'd like to think this whole thing was not screwed up by something as simple as dates.

I'm not pushing my theory as absolutely the right one, just a possible one!
