I think the idea of fake spoilers is valid. Here's why.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
At least one of the fake reviews (namely, this one) has a lot of things in it that are almost right.

Or, I should say, almost like what people are saying in the latest, accepted-as-real reviews.

I tend to think that what we are hearing now is real, but after all of the effort spent in the viral marketing campaign, would fake spoilers seem that crazy of a plan?

Well depending upon audience reaction at "Studio Authorized Advanced Screenings" changes are made. I'm a big starwars fan and the one example I always refer to is the ending of Return of the Jedi. As originally shot Lando dies and the Millennium Falcon is destoryed (they didn't make it out of the Death Star 2). Audience reaction was so poor they did a minor reshoot and did a new special effect of the MF flying out of the Death Star blowing up.

I hope you don't use that as an example. They never filmed that. It would have taken a bit more than a "Minor" reshoot, since Lando appears in the last scenes of the movie during the celebration with the entire cast. I know people that worked on and appear in ROTJ. The movie that was released is the movie that was originaly shot.

I find it hard to believe that people other than top tier hollywood folks and journalists have already seen it. The very day that I Am Legend came out there was footage online from the 6 min bonus preview for The Dark Knight, after all of these people claimed to have seen it noone has yet to supply a real pic of MGP? Especially something like MGP that everyone wants to see. I cry B.S.

If Matt Reeves' says there's been no Advanced screenings yet, and there won't be till Tuesday...

Oil....please for the love of god, did you actually see the film?

There was a moment about 3 days ago where HONEY was on, then went off...then came back on about an hour later and was like, "I just got back from work...I can answer any questions now.".....that's been stuck in my head as well. There's really only about 4-5 people who say the monster is what you say it is.....so it's possible that you all came up with some kind of plan way before this, to fool people.....or you all are the SAME person.

Eh, I still think it's true....but please, if you haven't and lied....just say so, so we can't start thinking again..... heh

.......I really did see the movie. i was offline for like 6 hours the day i said i got back from work. i should still have my ticket somewhere, i dont have a scanner, but i do have a camera, will that be sufficient proof that i saw it?

The screening I went to was an official paramount PROMOTIONAL screening. There was even a rep from Paramount there that oddly looked like the black vulcan guy from star trek voyager.

At the screening I went to, you had to go thru a metal detector b4 entering the theater and you also had to empty out all of your pockets. One guy DID get caught trying to bring a small camera inside of his trench coat but it got found by the usher who had the scanner and was confiscated and checked into a lock box with the rest of his things..

Maybe Oil and the others who have seen it were hired by Paramount/whoever to generate buzz and give out fake spoilers and such, including a fake description of the monster?
That would be fucking insane if true, because then we would all go to the movie and see a different monster, maybe the monster fan art now is the first draft of the monster? I dunno...

If true. Genius. Absolutely genius.

Don't look that deep into it. Although it would be awesome if I did work for Paramount.

I have seen the movie though, I don't know why this guy says there are no screenings till tomorrow.

While I agree it's not very likely, I wouldn't exactly rule out the possibility of fake spoilers given by plants.

In fact, I am somewhat reminded of Psycho—the way Hitchcock carefully controlled information that was given out about the film. He didn't give critics from a private screening, and he even forbade people from entering the movie late!

From what I see, the production company is relying on the advance screening presented to the general public versus the barred film critics who (to this point in time) have no seen any advanced screenings.

Well i can say that my screening was legit as well and I have NO idea why we were blessed a day early. Overall people will know come this friday, but it's really amazing how much you really don't care about the mysteries of Slusho/Jamie/etc when you see it. It's really a separate entity and so long as you go in with an open mind that you're seeing a fun action movie you won't be disappointed. Anyone who goes to see this with only the ARG in mind, who looks too deep into what's "real" and what's not will completely miss the point of this film and will hate it.

Also, I followed a link to a different message board, where my review was posted... on that thread someone posted and confirms what I saw. I know that doesn't say much, but I don't know who this other guy is.

See I'm still very skeptical about these supposed early screenings. It's too much trouble to confiscate phones, items and cameras for regular theatres, who don't get any extra loot for showing the film early. It's just too much involved, also some of the major movie theatre chains such as regal, havent even started selling their tickets for reuglar showings yet, until a day or two ago. I once had a friend who said he saw the old live action TMNT movie early and said Bebop and Rocksteady were in it and also Krang, so until Friday I still raise my B.S. and i bet alot of the people who claimed to see it early will not be around here anymore.
