Maybe this is meant to be a hackjob? Maybe the government is trying to make it look like they attacked the monster before it reached land, so they slapped this together.
It's possible. The govt has covered up millions of other things.
Yeah, but if the government can fake a moon landing or hide the six other guys that helped kill Kennedy, they should be able to do a much better job than this.
Y'know how much money would have to go into rebuilding NY? They don't have a budget for graphic designers.

My questions:
IF the military had been tracking MGP (perhaps after responding to that Norwegian tanker's distress call, why did they not take preventative measures and evacuate the city? Even if moving at a fast speed (because it hasn't gotten here yet, if things are moving in real time, which they seem to be), they would still have the ability to start moving people out of NYC. Unless, of course this is taken after the attack on NYC, then never mind. If the former is the case, however, there are a LOT of losses on the heads of the government for not evacuating (damn, sounds a lot like those folks and their 9/11 conspiracy theory. shit....).
Picture def is a hack job - I just checked that site this morning to see if anything new was there. That's what I get for going to lunch...
And I'm hesitant to watch anymore J&T videos - that last one was just disturbing. Unless the next one is her in bed with her new guy. Wait, I wouldn't watch that either....never mind....

No date means we can't determine when this happens, whether it's came after Chuai and before NYC or after NYC. Heck, it might have even happened pre Chuai and we just didn't know about it. Just another crumb of information tossed to us starving fans
Now, going into analysis mode. The angle and such makes it look like it goes along with the last picture. What if the wrecked ship in the previous pic was one of the battleships in this picture? It would make a lot of sense, and it would give you a real idea of how much of a BA Clover is. It's one thing to take out an unarmed tanker, but it's impressive to wipe out a battleship while taking a ton of enemy fire.

You can't evacuate the entire eastern coast. It could have been on a path for South Carolina at first, who knows where it would come on shore at?

I agree. It's a lame job of Photoshop. Too lame. With the night vision filter and some stock photos, they should have been able to do much better. I speak from experience since Photoshop was my specialty when I worked in advertising. It's as if they've either given up trying, or there is a reason that they are meant to look fake. Misinformation perhaps?
Looking at it from an IG perspective, it's possible that the government wanted to fabricate a photo for the public so that they could claim to have killed MGP, and so diffuse the panic that would ensue if it was learned that he got away.
On the other hand, they could just be lame.

I think the picture that appeared before this on 01-18-08 was equaly lame. Even the news footage wasn't that great, I mean the things shooting up out of the ocean looked like an old playstation2 game.
But we got the meaning of it. We get the impressions. You know, maybe they don't want to put too much money in it, maybe a trainee did the two new pics for the page. Why should they throw out money to this small group of fans of the ARG?

I think the people that saw the early screenings are really going to miss out. I have a feeling that all of the pictures and the Slusho! site and everything will make sense to teh people that see the movie on the 18th or later. Just a thought...

If they'd asked me I would have made them for free

They are firing cruise missiles. Cruise missiles go up and then they come down. They are NOT firing at the planes.
I'm no military tactician, but launching cruise missiles a boat's length away from your target doesn't seem very smart.

Are you serious? Really?! I will probably get flamed for this again, but I am really disappointed in the quality of the last two photos. I can forgive the video, because it least it was portarayed as real and honestly was directed to be very intense which I think it accomplished . But these crappy pics ....As I said before, it would almost be better if this was proven to be a gamejack or a hack because they are really tainting my entire experience with this "game".
I personally feel jerked around now. They are just throwing us bones/stringing us along until 1/18 comes.
Back to analysis mode, well...ummm...eff it ...how do you even analyze this? It's Sh#t! The only possible explanation is the it was intentionally done poorly/ not supposed to be taken as reality. Perhaps Tidowave is releasing fabbed pics in order to clear its name...f*ck ...I don't know (pouts in the corner, disenchanted)

Maybe we go to war with Japan!
They did unleash MGP upon NYC after all.

This pic is messed up on so many levels... It looks like one major Photoshop hack job.
- The ships on the right have no perspective; it's as if we're looking at them dead on only we're not.
- The ships on the left are identical, even though one is clearly behind the other.
- The ships on the left are firing long range missiles at a target way too close for that.
- The six fighter jets on the top right (the ones in the triangle formation) are too clear for this to be a night vision shot at that distance. At that distance we'd be seeing exhaust, not the plane itself clear as day. Besides, isn't it somewhat standard to break formation to some degree when attacking?
- I don't know what the hell the two planes near the top are dropping, 'cause it ain't missiles. Perhaps Durandals, paveways or something along those lines would look like that, but not a Sidewinder or equivalent missile. Whatever it is, it has no arc and is dropping straight down, as if the planes dropped them while stationary.
- The gun near the camera is a repeating fire weapon. Seems to me that the target is well out of range for that sort of thing, but (a) I might be wrong in that assumption (can some militaries clarify that), and (b) it might be being fired out of panic of the unknown.
Also, this doesn't make any sense; it's not the American way. If they're attacking something like this in force, they'd do it the way they've done it in the past: fire a Tomahawk from a hundred miles out.
Quote:
I prefer the weapon that you only have to fire once. That's how dad did it, that's how America does it, and it's worked out pretty well so far.
They would never put so many ships at such close range to an unknown threat.
Curiosity: is the plane on the top right an A-10, or am I looking at it wrong? It looks to have one of those big cylinder engines...
I was just going to post the exact same words about the poorly photoshopped ships and stuff. Let's admit it, JJ's marketing team has lame graphic skills :) We have already seen the clone stamp tool overused in the previous pic.
They are just letting us know the monster is close and the forces are aware, that's IT . Nothing else. Don't try finding any extra details in this mess.
