everybody is arguing over whether or not you get a good look at the monster. I guess that's the first question....

Okay, I'll try!
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You see the monster very clearly, especially at the end. Still, it's EXTREMELY hard to describe and I'm honestly not 100% behind any of the sketches that've come out in the past week. To tell you the truth, the monster seemed more impressive when we didn't see too much of him. When we finally do see him almost in full (during the infamous Hud scene), he somehow seems to be like 1/5th the size that he was earlier in the movie!
He's less effective up close, is what I'm saying. During the scenes when he's a vague behemoth in the distance breaking everything apart...totally boss.
There is nothing to compare him to: He doesn't look like any living creature in any solid way, shape or form.

How does the movie start? Is there any credits in the end? A song in the end credits? A whisper?

So this is supposed to be the "American Godzilla"?
When I see Godzilla, i know what he is. When someone asks me to describe Godzilla, it's easy. Same with Kong. NO BODY can describe this thing, or give any details about it. How is THIS supposed to be our monster "Icon"?

Oh God, yeah, you do. They did as close as they possibly could to a "sweeping movie pan" of the whole monster's body. Will it help you ID the creature? No, it really won't. As others have stated, it just seems to look different during different parts of the movie. Not different enough to seem like different creatures, but it's just a very odd freak of a monster overall.
I will say that the big reveal at the end is a wee bit of a letdown, because, well, the monster seems to change sizes to accommodate the scene he's in. And in the particular scene where we see the most of him, it made sense for him to seem a bit smaller. (Honestly, there were points where he looked not much larger than the Peter Jackson's Kong.)
In other scenes, he seems absolutely freakin' huge.

I have two simple questions.
1. Do the pictures from www.1-18-08.com happen in TIME stamp order. Talking the time on the pictures not the date stamp. Ignore the ones that have no time/date stamp.
2. Could everything happen, in those time stamp pictures, happen in the 47 minutes that they show? Something like from 12:01 AM to 12:48 AM.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Movie starts similar to the "Case Designate" trailer open, but it's not exactly that -- the text is spread across a few different "pages," and the actual movie starts off with the standard color bars you'd see at the front of an old VHS. Not much to tell on that, really.
NO SONG in the end credits, which was very...odd. I admire them for doing that because it's honestly risky, but I actually think they should've had one in there. Picture leaving a movie that has a rather sad ending with virtual silence over the end credits. It's a weird experience.

Having seen it, one thing is for sure: This is a movie about an EVENT, and NOT a movie about a monster. The monster isn't charming, isn't well defined, doesn't have many memorable traits outside of its freaky appearance...to call it an icon akin to Kong or Godzilla is totally off for sure. It's simply not meant to be that.

If you're reading the spoilers like I did, I'm sad to report that you probably shouldn't have done that. With no surprises to the movie, the overall effect is decreased...but that's not the movie's fault, it's ours. I went into it knowing pretty much everything that was going to happen.
However, I loved it and I think it was pretty terrific overall. The people I saw it with didn't follow the campaign, much less had they read any spoilers, and they left VERY satisfied.
One thing that may seem strange is that, overall, the movie honestly isn't that "dark." You've got Hud on camera throughout most of it, and he's always talking. Hud is a pretty happy-go-lucky guy, even during a monster attack. This isn't a complaint, merely an observation.
To confirm what we've been hearing: Yes, Hud rules. Really great character and virtually the star of the show. Him and Marlena rule my roost.

How did you personally like it?
Edit: never mind, seems as though you answered my question just a few seconds before I hit "submit"

JJ said it was meant to be that. You're a veteran, been here a while. I know you've read that interview where he says he was in Japan with his kid looking at Godzilla toys and decided that we needed an "American" Godzilla.
So, yes, according to the producer and creator, it was supposed to be exactly that.
